📸 Capturing the Spirit of Hong Kong: Student Work at The Foreign Correspondents’ Club

Congratulations to our students whose photography is featured in the 9th edition of the "HONG KONG, my home!" exhibition at The Foreign Correspondents’ Club on 1-31 May, 2026.

Out of 30 students selected from various universities, we are proud to see eight of our own included, making us the most-awarded team among the local higher education institutions.

To us, these images are more than just photographs – they are a window into the heart of our city, captured with the unique perspective and passion of our emerging journalists.

【浸大新聞系｜實踐課的傳統與傳承】📸

本學期最後一次實踐課順利完成！🎉
從《新報人》、《The Young Reporter》、《廣播新聞網》、《新報人財經》到《DataStory》，每一篇報道、每一個數據故事，都由學生一手包辦——低年級擔任前線記者，高年級肩負編輯審稿責任，老師則以顧問角色從旁引導。📝

這個以學生為核心的實踐課模式，已在浸大新聞系延續超過五十年。不僅培養了同學對新聞工作的熱情，更為香港新聞界輸送了一代又一代的專業人才。許多畢業生已成為業界領軍人物，這也是浸大新聞系在香港擁有深遠影響力的關鍵所在。🏆

【HKBU Journalism｜A Half-Century Tradition of Hands-On Learning】📸

Our final practicum classes of the semester have come to a successful close! 🎉

From San Po Yan, The Young Reporter, Broadcast News Network, The Young Financial Post to DataStory, every story and data feature is entirely student-driven — junior students work as frontline reporters, senior students serve as editors and faculty advisors guide from the sidelines. 📝

This student-centered practicum model has been at the core of our Department of Journalism for over 50 years. It not only ignites a passion for journalistic work, but also continuously nurtures generations of media professionals. ✍🏻

Many of our graduates have gone on to become leaders in Hong Kong’s news industry — a testament to the lasting impact of HKBU Journalism. 🏆

🇸🇦 🇶🇦Riyadh & Doha: Reporting from the Heart of the Middle East

What does it take to report on-the-ground in a global hub? 🎤🌍

This January, 30+ HKBU journalism students and faculty members headed to the Middle East to find out. From the vibrant souks and museums to frontline newsrooms in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, they experienced the region's rich culture firsthand.

More than just a trip, this was a chance for our students to sharpen their skills, navigate new cultures and tell stories that matter.

Each year, our international journalism students come together in Mui Wo for an overnight camp, a tradition that brings The Young Reporter newsroom beyond the classroom walls.🚌

Over the last weekend of March, Year 2 and Year 3 students enjoyed a memorable team-building retreat, featuring a village-wide scavenger photo hunt, bird-themed art explorations and lively podcast brainstorming sessions filled with creativity, collaboration, and fun.🥳

💬 活動邀請了啟德體育園有限公司總監（策略發展）鄧竟成、公共關係及傳訊主管尹慧嫻，以及紀錄片導演蔡瑞琦，為同學分享如何以「人」為核心，講述夢想與堅毅的故事。🎬

🎥 園方放映《築夢啟德》，紀錄了體育園建造過程、年輕運動員如何克服挫敗、營運團隊迎接開幕挑戰的熱情！🫶

Go Behind the Scenes: Storytelling at Kai Tak Sports Park!

Our Journalism students got an exclusive look at documentary filmmaking & mega-project communication at KTSP. Thanks to Mr. KS Tang, Ms. Joyce Wan & Director Rikki Choy for sharing how human stories bring sports infrastructure to life! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Mr. Tang led the group to see how synthetic turf, padding & natural grass swap seamlessly 🌱, the 4,800-tonne retractable roof opening in just 30 minutes ⏱️ and engineering crews’ high-speed turnaround between mega-events 🚚🎶

We wrapped up with coffee & conversation at KTSP’s Gallery, what a perfect finish to an eye-opening day! ☕✨

🎬 Video Reporting Workshop | Shoot the story with TYR!

Our International Journalism students got hands-on with video storytelling at a workshop led by The Young Reporter (TYR). From planning shots to capturing B-roll, they learned the essentials of news video production.

The Chief Editor walked everyone through practical tips on framing interviews, covering seating, eyelines and camera angles.

From watching live to preparing interviews, our students and supervisors worked tirelessly throughout the day, delivering timely and reliable news under the pressure of a busy newsroom.
