Everyone is more than welcome to join, we would love you to come along and get involved. Students are an influential part of the AI global movement – your passion, energy and creativity will inspire and strengthen our work.

Last Thursday, we had an insightful discussion about COVID-19 and its impact on students’ mental health 🧠. For those who couldn’t attend, here’s what our panelists had to say:

⭐️ Open up about your problems, but listen to others’ too. Speak to your professors, their door is always open.
⭐️ Embrace your uniqueness and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.
⭐️ Be flexible, but plan out your time and communicate about your limits.
⭐️ More holistic efforts are needed to prepare us emotionally for the next crisis.

Most importantly, remember that you are not alone. Stay tuned for more events like this in the future!

Synopsis:

"When you listen to music, your ears will make a flame." - A Taliban Judge.

With a passion for music, a group of young people in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, are risking their lives to form the first heavy metal band in Afghanistan in a secret garage. As the Taliban regarded music as Satan's dance music, the music-loving young men are facing both the thirst for freedom and the threat of death. They liberate the suppressed people through music, but at the same time are worried about their own safety. As a group of young people who love music for its own sake, what is their identity? Is music something worth betting their lives on? Leaving or staying is the proposition they have to face…

We are honoured to invite Mr. Adrian Chow and Mr. Jay Lee as our guests. Mr. Adrian Chow is a local music producer as well as an alumnus from the law faculty of HKU. After his graduation, he devoted himself to his music career. He produced famous songs such as 《粵語殘片》《山林道》《雞蛋與羔羊》. Mr Chow has been voicing out for current affairs issues. The song 《雞蛋與羔羊》is produced to support the people from government oppression. Mr. Jay Lee is also an alumnus of HKU. He has been devoting to the music industry since his graduation. He founded JL music and City Echo to cultivate potential singers and organise busking performances. With suppression on busking performances these days, Mr Lee also stated that "Busking performances will last more than an era", he is still highly devoted to promote local music in Hong Kong.

Should you have any enquiries, please contact us at [email protected] or contact Jordan Pang, the Acting Chairperson, the Current Affairs Committee, the Hong Kong University Students’ Union Council (email: [email protected]).
