在4月12和13日，明德工程師生義務協助聖巴拿巴會之家向西營盤基層包裝和派發食品物資。大家都十分努力和積極，希望為抗疫出一分力，減輕基層的物資壓力。派發的物資大多由本地善心人捐贈🥰。

On 12 and 13 April, teachers and students of Project Mingde voluntarily helped SBSH pack and delivered goodie bags (mainly foods) to the grassroots in Sai Ying Pun. Though it was a difficult task, everyone worked hard in the hope to contribute to anti-epidemic works and alleviate the grassroots burden. Most of the supplies are donated by local people 🥰.

【推介 Recommendation】【結構工程之本 The essence of structural engineering】
香港擁有成熟的建築規範和工程管理制度，大家對樓宇和基建的結構安全性都充滿信心。但城大陳大河綜合會堂屋頂倒塌（因為綠化天台過重，加上過重所致的屋頂斜度降低影響排水，終致桁架荷載超逾承載能力）、沙中線紅磡站因施工不當引致的結構隱憂（調查結論認為原有設計提供了甚高的額外結構強度，雖能緩解施工不當的後果，但本身亦可能令施工困難）、柏傲莊石屎強度不足需要加固等事件提醒我們結構工程的成就不是理所當然。我們要不斷吸取經驗和教訓，在不確定性 (uncertinty)、安全 (safety)、合規 (compliance)、可建造性 (buildability)、時間 (programme)、成本 (cost)，甚至可持續發展 (sustainbility) 和監督制度 (supervision) 、科技應用 (innovation) 等之間取得平衡。

【Event Promotion 活動推廣】【CIC BIM Competition 2022】

大家好🙆🏻‍♂️🙆🏻‍♂️黎緊CIC會搞一個BIM Competition。呢個BIM competition需要來自不同discipline的同學（eg. 參加者不能只有土木工程背景的同學，要有2個或以上不同discipline嘅學生組成，如測量、建築、屋宇設備等）

目前，土木工程系和房地產及建設系目前想透過明德工程嘅平台去招募參加者。在CIC官網 申請之前，不妨先參加我地嘅recruitment，我地將會為大家提供多啲有關BIM competition嘅資訊，同時亦都可以識下其他discipline嘅同學仔🙆🏻此外我地更邀請到有豐富BIM經驗李銘翹工程師Ir Owen M K Lee成為我地嘅mentor。

填完google form (https://forms.gle/44y7mgZkvKvkmNAR9)之後，我地會邀請參加者入Whatsapp group，以後詳細嘅內容將會於Whatsapp group再公布。截止日期是1月28日。

CIC is inviting higher education students to join the BIM competition 2022. This competition needs 3 to 5 students from 2 or more disciplines.

Currently, the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Real Estate and Construction is recruiting participants through Project Mingde. Interested students are welcomed to fill in this google form (https://forms.gle/44y7mgZkvKvkmNAR9) before applying through the official website (, we will provide more BIM training, helping you to meet and form groups with students from other disciplines. Moreover, we have invited Ir Owen M K Lee as our mentor, who is an engineer experienced in BIM.

After filling our google form, we will invite applicants to join a WhatsApp group, where detailed information will be released. The deadline will be 28 Jan 2022.

【Guangxi Guigang Duling Primary School Extension Project｜廣西貴港獨嶺小學擴建工程】

由2021年的暑假開始，十多位明學會的同學基於建築師製作的建築施工圖和設計院製作的結構、電氣及給排水施工圖，邊學習邊以建築信息模擬(BIM)軟件Revit製作綜合樓的BIM Model。透過製作BIM Model及檢視CAD圖則，同學可找出圖則中的錯誤，與建築師商討後共同修正圖則，並完善BIM Model。

BIM把建築信息（如電氣、結構、建築等元件的特性和位置）透過「三維」模型軟件視像化呈現和進行各種分析，提升效率和減少出錯。BIM在建造業界的應用愈發普及，是主修建造業相關學科的學生未來必須了解和掌握的技術，因此明學會將於本學年籌備和推廣更多有關BIM的活動給同學參與。

明德工程亦正研究結合BIM和其他技術（如3D打印、AR、VR或參數化設計等）將我們過往的工程項目實體化和更方便展示，令更多人可以認識明德工程的工程項目和原理。

【Guangxi Guigang Duling Primary School Extension Project｜廣西貴港獨嶺小學擴建工程】

明德工程正幫助廣西貴港市港北區武樂鄉中心小學獨嶺分校（獨嶺小學）改善教與學環境。由2016年開始，港大師生進行可行性研究以鑑定學校的現況和需求，並把工程分為兩個階段。

第一階段為改善學校環境，包括原校舍的結構加固和翻新，及增建東翼廁所，工程在2018至2019間進行。

第二階段為增建一棟綜合樓和配套設施，以在未來招收更多學生。其則由港大師生、香港建築師、廣西當地設計院和承建商合作製作。經過草擬工程合同、報建等程序，並克服2019冠狀病毒病疫情帶來的挑戰後，新建綜合樓工程於2021年10月10日正式動工。而其配套的西翼廁所工程將於綜合樓完工後動工。

【11月活動回顧 Event Review in November】
在11月3日，明學會舉辦了東涌新市鎮擴展計劃地盤參觀。學生參觀了東涌東填海工程項目創新中心「InnoTCE」和親身體驗各種工程創新科技（例如VR和CAVE），更乘遊覽船⛴近距離考察東涌東填海工程。土拓署職員的熱心講解下同學們都獲益良多🤩。
On November 3, PMSA organized a technical site visit to the Tung Chung New Town Extension. The students visited the “InnoTCE” of Tung Chung East Reclamation Project and experienced advanced technology in first-hand, and took a boat trip to take a close look at the Project. The students have benefited a lot from the enthusiastic explanation of the CEDD staff.

東涌東填海工程工地中裝置大量感測器，收集各項施工數據和紀錄並傳送至InnoTCE的數字平台，令工程團隊掌握整個工地的狀況，幫助他們作出快捷及準確的決策。
A large number of sensors are installed on the Tung Chung East Reclamation Project site to collect various construction data and records and send them to InnoTCE's digital platform, allowing the project team to grasp the status of the entire site and help them make quick and accurate decisions.

[ Winter Workshop: Reimagining SBSH ］[ Project Mingde｜明德工程 ］[ Horizon Mingde｜明德境外學習 ］

"Reimagining SBSH" is a 3-day multidisciplinary design workshop involving different HKU departments. Architecture, Business, Engineering, Social Sciences students will work together to reimagine the collective use of SBSH through drawings, model marking, surveying, etc. The design will involve rethinking the interior programme of SBSH, the exterior courtyards and the possible connection through a landscape strategy.

About Saint Barnabas' Society and Home (SBSH):

Founded in 1987. SBSH aims to create a caring community by providing a wide range of services to the low income and homeless, from offering free meals, shelter, counselling and wellness assistance, to after school clubs and extra-curriculum activities for underprivileged children.
