[ 21st HKIOF - Student Program!]

This year's event was a huge success, giving students a fantastic glimpse into the world of Orthopaedics. Not only was it educational, but it was also a lot of fun—especially when students got to make their own plaster gloves! 🧤✨

A special highlight was Dr. Kenny Kwan’s insightful admission sharing, packed with practical tips that will surely benefit aspiring orthopaedic surgeons. 🎓🔍

Huge thanks to Dr. Marvin Chung and Dr Felix Leung for hosting the program, and to all supporting doctors including Dr Jaimy So, Dr Teenie Wong, Dr Jane Fan, Dr Marcus Lai and Dr Augustine Chan for making this event memorable and inspiring!

We look forward to seeing our future doctors again very soon!

It’s not every day you get to sit down with a legend in orthopaedic trauma. We recently welcomed Prof. Takeshi Sawaguchi as our 19th Harry Fang Visiting Professor and a featured speaker at the 21st Hong Kong International Orthopaedic Forum.

Prof. Sawaguchi has spent decades advancing patient-centered care for complex fractures. During the forum, our own Dr. Felix Leung caught up with him to dive deeper into his lecture on treating complicated hip fractures and managing their complications. 💬

We are pleased to share a successful recap of the 21st HKIOF – HKU 1st International Certification Cadaveric Masterclass on the STAR Approach in Primary THA and Complex Revision.

This event marked the first Asia Pacific STAR course in collaboration with STAR foundation (starapproach.com), providing a groundbreaking platform for knowledge exchange and skill development.

The masterclass aimed to foster collaboration not only among surgeons but also with Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists, whose vital roles are essential in patients' recovery journey.

The course offered Orthopaedic surgeons comprehensive practical training, helping them become more familiar with the STAR Approach—enhancing their ability to manage complex cases and improve patient outcomes.

A special thank you to Prof. Eleftherios Tsiridis for his invaluable insights, and to our distinguished overseas speakers, Dr. Peter Sculco and Dr. Lincoln Liow, for their expert contributions.

We also appreciate Course Chairperson Dr. Thomas Leung and our dedicated division members—Dr. Henry Fu, Dr. Amy Cheung, Dr. Michelle Luk, and Dr. Lawrence Lau—for their hard work in organizing this impactful workshop.

Celebrating the success of our inaugural STAR Approach course is a significant milestone, and we look forward to future events that will continue to facilitate international knowledge exchange among global experts. This platform fosters collaboration and learning across borders, and we are excited for the next opportunities to share expertise and advance orthopaedic care worldwide!
