The summer opening hours of the Student Canteen, effective from now until 22 August, are as below:

Sunday and Public Holidays: Closed

🧋The Tea House will reopen on 3 August 2026.

Staff Canteen remains closed until further notice.

一行15名聯合同學原定由建築學系徐亮博士帶領，於5月27日至6月10日前往烏干達進行服務學習。可惜出發前鄰近地區爆發伊波拉病毒疫情 ，書院經審慎評估疫情發展並諮詢專家意見後，為保障師生安全，最終決定取消本年度活動 ❌
同學早於數月前已積極籌備烏干達之行，包括設計玩具圖書館，以及收集與整理各類玩具。未能如期成行、親身探訪當地孤兒 ，實屬可惜 😔
在籌備過程中，書院獲各界支持，捐贈了大量玩具及行李箱。部分物資將留待明年使用 ，其餘已轉交本地志願機構，轉送到有需要的人手中🤝
最後，衷心希望疫情能盡快受控，並期待來年能再次啟程💝

A group of 15 United College students, originally led by Dr Xu Liang from the School of Architecture, were scheduled to travel to Uganda for a service-learning programme from 27 May to 10 June. Unfortunately, an Ebola outbreak occurred in a neighbouring region before departure. After carefully assessing the situation and consulting experts, the College decided to cancel this year’s programme in order to safeguard the health and safety of both staff and students ❌
The students had already devoted months to preparing for the Uganda trip, including designing a toy library and collecting and organising various types of toys. It is truly regrettable that they were unable to proceed as planned and visit local orphans in person😔
During the preparation process, the College received generous support from various sectors, including a large number of donated toys and suitcases. Some of these items will be kept for use next year, while the rest have been handed over to local charitable organisations for distribution to those in need 🤝
Finally, we sincerely hope that the outbreak will be brought under control as soon as possible, and we look forward to resuming the journey next year 💝

【聯合書院七十周年院慶籃球及網球友誼賽🏀🎾】
為慶祝聯合書院70周年，書院於5月29日舉行七十周年院慶籃球及網球友誼賽，邀請了姊妹書院—學勤書院，從深圳遠道而來，與聯合師生進行了一場緊張又刺激的籃球和網球友誼賽。當天很高興邀請了聯合書院副院長兼通識教育主任李鴻基教授、聯合書院院務主任朱潔茹女士、聯合書院70周年院慶健康及體育活動工作小組召集人黃安東先生、學勤書院活動拓展組主管黃沁女士、學勤書院活動拓展組高級行政專員黃煜玉女士等嘉賓出席支持。是次友誼賽是兩所書院繼2023年10月之後第二次的體育交流活動。雙方在比賽中互相砌磋球技，互相學習。比賽後，眾人在思源館進行茶聚，互相交流，增進友誼🧋🧋

【United College 70th Anniversary Basketball & Tennis Friendly Match 🏀🎾】
To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of United College, the College organised a basketball and tennis friendly match on 29 May. Our sister college, Diligentia College, travelled all the way from Shenzhen to compete with our staff and students in exciting and closely contested basketball and tennis matches.
We were delighted to have the presence and support of our guests, including Professor Lee Hung Kay, Associate Head and Dean of General Education of United College; Ms Dorothy K Y Chu, College Secretary of United College; Mr Wong On Tung, Convener of the UC 70th Anniversary Health and Sports Working Group; Ms Huang Qin, Supervisor of Activity Expansion of Diligentia College and Ms Huang Yuyu Jasmine, Senior Executive Officer of Activity Expansion of Diligentia College.
This friendly match marked the second sports exchange activity between the two colleges since October 2023. During the matches, both sides exchanged skills and learned from one another in a spirit of sportsmanship. After the competitions, participants gathered at Si Yuan Amenities Centre for a tea reception, where they interacted and strengthened their friendship.🧋🧋

另外，由天馬菁莪粵劇團策劃，及康樂及文化事務署香港公共圖書館主辦之「從古典名著到粤劇劇本：細味新編粤劇《夢說紅樓》」將於2026年5月31日上午11時30分於香港中央圖書館地下演講廳舉行，是次講座免費入場。

UC is committed to promoting Chinese culture among students, hoping students can gain a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese arts and cultural activities. Thanks to the generous donation from our College Trustee, UC students can now enjoy a newly adapted Cantonese opera free of charge. Details are as follows:

Title: Tale of the Red Chamber Dream (newly adapted and premiered by Ms Man Wah based on the novel ‘Dream of the Red Chamber’)
Date & Time: 23 June 2026 (Tue), 7:30pm
Venue: Ko Shan Theatre (New Wing Auditorium), 77 Ko Shan Road, Hung Hom
Main Cast: Man Wah as Jia Baoyu; Leung Fei-tung as Lin Daiyu

Ticket Registration: Via the QR code in the image above. The registration deadline is 10 June 2026
Remarks: Tickets are limited and on first-come, first-served basis

Last but not least, Ms Man Wah will give a talk titled “From Literary Classic to Cantonese Opera Script: Savouring the Newly Adapted Cantonese Opera “Tale of the Red Chamber Dream””, on 31 May 2026, from 11:30am to 1:00pm, at the Lecture Theatre, G/F, Hong Kong Central Library. Admission is free.

自1980年起，周年研討會一直是書院的重要傳統，每年聚焦值得關注的議題，促進同學與專家之間的深入交流。今年以「歐洲的增長冠軍：波蘭從貧困走向繁榮之路」為題，帶領大家探索波蘭經濟的轉型與崛起。

今年更邀得兩位重量級嘉賓——波蘭共和國駐香港總領事Michał Kołodziejski 先生及世界銀行資深經濟學家 Marcin Piątkowski 教授，透過精彩分享與近距離互動，啟發同學對全球經濟發展的思考。

Since its debut in 1980, the Annual Workshop of the College has been a long‑standing tradition, bringing students and experts together each year to explore topics of significance. This year’s theme, Europe’s Growth Champion: Poland’s Path from Poverty to Prosperity, guided participants through Poland’s remarkable economic transformation.

Featuring Consul General of the Republic of Poland in HK Michał Kołodziejski and Professor Marcin Piątkowski, Professor of Economics at Kozminski University in Poland and Senior Economist at the World Bank , the session offered inspiring insights into Poland’s economic rise, alongside engaging student interaction.
