Congratulations to our PhD student, ZHANG Xuebing Eva (Prof. KIM Jin Young’s group) who has won “Dance Your PhD 2024” contest in the Chemistry category, hosted by Science Journal.

Eva’s captivating dance performance, titled “Circadian Clock Communication between Different Cells,’ beautifully showcased the intricate scientific concepts of her research.

【創新科技署資助逾710萬港元 支持城大抗疫研究👏🏻】

全球面對疫情威脅，城大科研人員積極展開各項研究，運用尖端技術對抗疫情。當中四個跨學科研究計劃更獲創新科技署轄下創新及科技基金逾710萬港元資助，包括生物醫學系楊建文講座教授（生物醫學）楊夢甦教授研究簡單快速的新冠病毒測試方法；電機工程學系講座教授梁國華教授將研究一種便捷可靠的遠紫外線消毒設備；生物醫學系及電機工程學系助理教授陳紀行博士採用機器學習與深度學習技術預測病毒的感染及死亡率，及與其他疾病的聯繫；機械工程學系助理教授Steven Wang博士則為醫院病人研發快速通風密封系統。

【Over $7.1 million in ITF funding for anti-pandemic research👏🏻】

As the coronavirus continues to threaten the world, CityU research teams are exploring the application of cutting-edge technologies to fight the epidemic. Four such interdisciplinary CityU projects have attracted over $7.1 million from the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) under the Innovation and Technology Commission.

The 4 projects include research on a rapid test for Covid-19, led by Professor Michael Yang Mengsu in the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS); a convenient and reliable far-UVC light disinfection device, under the guidance of Professor Leung Kwok-wa in the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE); machine learning and deep learning techniques to predict infections and mortality, as well as for investigating the link between Covid-19 infections and other diseases, led by Dr Katie Chan Kei-hang in BMS and EE; and a fast-track vented enclosure system for patients in hospitals, conducted by Dr Steven Wang in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
