📱 What is the Endowment Effect? The Endowment Effect is a psychological phenomenon in which individuals value things much more highly simply because they own them! ❤️For example, when selling your used phone, you might feel it’s worth at least $3,000 because of the memories and attachment 💰. However, to a buyer, it‘s just a scratched secondhand phone worth $1,500 at most! 😣

Businesses exploit this by offering ”free trials“ or ”30-day money-back guarantees“ 🆓, because once the item is in your hands, you feel a strong sense of ownership and become highly reluctant to return it.

💡 Keep this in mind: Next time you shop or sell secondhand items, be aware of this effect to make more objective and rational transaction decisions! 🚫

Thank you, Edward, for sharing his exchange experience! 🌍 This journey was filled with learning, growth, and exploration: he was exposed to different ways of learning in class, and also learned how to cook, manage money, and take care of himself through independent living abroad ✨.
