恭喜理學院院長、歐雪明能源教授及化學科技講座教授黃維揚教授膺選為中國化學學會會士!

中國化學會自2019年設立會士制度，每年增選會士不超過50人，旨在鼓勵會員持續攀登科學技術高峰，促進國家的化學發展。中國化學會會士是會員的最高學術頭銜。此獎項是對黃教授於化學及相關領域取得的系統性和創造性成就，以及為化學學科的發展與進步所作出的傑出貢獻的高度肯定。

Congratulations to Prof. Wong Wai-yeung, Raymond, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Clarea Au Professor in Energy and Chair Professor of Chemical Technology, on being elected as the Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society (FCCS)!

The FCCS is established by Chinese Chemical Society in 2019 and elected no more than 50 fellows each year. It aims to inspire members to continue reaching new scientific and technological heights while promoting the development of China’s chemical industry. FCCS is the highest and most elite membership level of the CCS. This award is a testament to attaining systematic and creative achievements to chemistry and related fields and making outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the discipline of chemistry.

理大科學青年人才比賽2026圓滿落幕：見證科學新星的誕生 🌟

由理大理學院主辦的「理大科學青年人才比賽」決賽於2026 年3月21日圓滿舉行。🎊

從超過180多隊初賽隊伍中脫穎而出的 30 強精英，齊集理大校園，展開一場智慧與創意的巔峰對決！🔬 參賽隊伍走進理大先進的科研實驗室，挑戰一系列有關生物及食品科學、化學及物理方面既有趣又具啟發性的科學實驗。在緊張的比賽過程中，參賽隊伍不僅施展渾身解數爭奪冠軍寶座，更向評審團展示了卓越的實驗技巧與非凡的科學才華。🏆

在這些充滿挑戰的任務中，我們看見了年輕一代對科學的熱誠、嚴謹與好奇心，充分展現出未來科學領袖的潛質。🔥

PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition 2026 Concludes: Celebrating the Rise of Future Scientists 🌟

The Final Round of the "PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition," organised by the PolyU Faculty of Science, concluded with great success on 21 March, 2026! 🎊

Out of more than 180 preliminary teams, the top 30 elite teams gathered on the PolyU campus for an ultimate showdown of wisdom and creativity. 🔬 Stepping into PolyU’s state-of-the-art research laboratories, participants tackled a series of engaging and inspiring scientific experiments encompassing the disciplines of Biology and Food Science, Chemistry and Physics. Throughout the intense competition, these young talented students gave their all to compete for the championship, showcasing exceptional experimental techniques and extraordinary scientific skills to our panel of judges. 🏆

We were truly inspired by the passion, discipline, and curiosity of these students. Not only did they just conduct experiments, they demonstrated the potential to become the scientific leaders of tomorrow. 🔥

The awards ceremony was held on the same day to celebrate these achievements. PolyU extends its heartfelt congratulations to all winning teams and expresses sincere gratitude to all participants, schools, and our judging panel for their unwavering support. Congratulations to the awardees of the President’s Awards for Outstanding Achievement 2025 from the Faculty of Science. The President’s Awards recognize Prof. Zheng Zijian’s and Prof. Wong Ka-hing’s significant contributions and impact on knowledge transfer, Prof. Lee Kin-wah and his team’s remarkable efforts in instilling an innovative mindset in our students. Their guidance led to the students’ outstanding performance at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition in Paris, earning a Silver Medal and an Impact Grant in 2023, followed by a Gold Medal and a Top 10 Undergraduate Team ranking worldwide in 2024. Their unwavering dedication to excellence in knowledge transfer and teaching is truly remarkable. We are deeply grateful for their outstanding contributions, which have greatly enriched our Faculty, University, and the broader community.

【📢 PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition 2026 Preliminary Round Concludes Successfully! ✨】

Dedicated to nurturing future scientists, the PolyU Faculty of Science successfully held the Preliminary Round of the "PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition 2026" in PolyU campus this morning.

Over 700 students from 183 secondary schools gathered to compete across three disciplines: Biology and Food Science, Chemistry, and Physics. The atmosphere was intense, with every student demonstrating their exceptional scientific potential and teamwork to secure a spot in the Final Competition in March! 🔥

A huge thank you to all participating schools and students for your enthusiasm. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our colleagues and student assistants for making this event a success. See you at the Finals! 👏

恭喜理大食品科學及營養學系系主任兼微生物學講座教授陳聲教授和應用生物及化學科技學系軟材料及器件講座教授鄭子劍教授分別領導的兩項研究項目於「2025年度教育部科學研究優秀成果獎（自然科學和工程技術）」中，獲頒自然科學獎二等獎，以表彰研究團隊在抗生素耐藥性細菌機理及柔性電子技術兩大前沿領域的突破性貢獻，印證理大在基礎研究與技術創新領域的科研實力。

Congratulations to Prof. Chen Sheng, Head of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition and Chair Professor of Microbiology and Prof. Zheng Zijian, Associate Director of the Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems and Chair Professor of Soft Materials and Devices, on bestowing the second-class award in the 2025 Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology) by the Ministry of Education. The accolades serve as recognition of the research teams’ breakthrough contributions in the frontier fields of antibiotic resistance mechanisms in bacteria and flexible electronics technology, affirming the University’s research strength in both fundamental research and technological innovation.

黃維揚教授獲選為香港科學院新院士

理學院院長、潘樂陶慈善基金智慧城市研究院副院長、化學科技講座教授及歐雪明能源教授黃維揚教授獲選為香港科學院五位新院士之一！這一殊榮表彰了黃教授在科研領域上表現出色，為社會進步作出極大貢獻。黃教授是化學專家，他的研究重點是設計並合成具有光功能和能源應用的分子功能材料和金屬聚合物（一維和二維） 。他的團隊致力開發可持續能源和提升能源轉換技術，以應對未來全球能源需求，同時推動更潔淨、更能適應環境變化的未來。

理學院對黃教授獲此殊榮致以衷心的祝賀!

Prof. Wong Wai-yeung, Raymond was elected as a member of The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences

Prof. Raymond Wong Wai-yeung, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Associate Director of the Otto P**n Charitable Foundation Research Institute for Smart Energy, Chair Professor of Chemical Technology, and Clarea Au Professor in Energy, has been elected as one of the five new members of The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences for his outstanding achievements in scientific research and significant contributions to social progress. Prof. Wong is a chemist engaging in research on the designing and synthesising of molecular functional materials and metallopolymers (1D and 2D) with photofunctional properties and energy applications. His team is committed to developing sustainable energy sources and enhancing energy conversion technologies to address upcoming global energy needs while promoting a cleaner, more resilient future.
