After the whole year of hard work, we finally got some good news!

Our teams, Dream Development and City Dreamwork, won the Best Engineering Award, Best Artistic Design Award and Best Team Spirit Award!

It is our pleasure and hounour that the hard work throughout the whole year is recognized by the TAC of Robocon 2017 Hong Kong Contest.

Moreover, thanks to the contest, it provides a platform to facilitate the exchange of ideas and techniques on robotics. Robots from different institutions are really impressive.

Finally, congratulations to HKUST Robotics Team for wining the champion, wish you all good luck in the international contest.

Let's keep moving! See you all in Robocon 2018!

Solar Car Apollon running without battery:
Apollon is a genuine solar powered car, i.e. it can run without battery with all electronics powered by solar energy.
At 15:30, 13 Jan 2016, we took out the battery inside the Apollon to show what it can do.
The UV index was 3 according to Hong Kong Observatory web page and the sunlight light intensity was moderately good. Frankly speaking, it needs a bit of push to start Apollon since the starting power is a bit too high as 1000W solar panel may only deliver around 30% of efficiency under this condition.
We placed Apollon on a gentle slope to help her start, then run on a flat path. Along the path, half of the path was shadowed by the building. In the end, Apollon was abled to “climbed” back to its original sloped location. This demonstrated that Apollon indeed can run on solar power.
Enjoy the video.
