🎉 我們很高興為大家宣佈,高璇博士、陶兆銘教授及Dr. Zhao Yuhan近日發表了題為「Resistance Among Youths With Mental Illnesses in China in the Context of Parent–Child Relationships: The Integration of Modern and Postmodern Perspectives 」的最新論文。📄✨

🎉We are happy to announce that Dr. Gao Xuan, Prof. To Siu Ming, and Dr. Zhao Yuhan have recently published their latest paper titled "Resistance Among Youths With Mental Illnesses in China in the Context of Parent–Child Relationships: The Integration of Modern and Postmodern Perspectives".📄✨

🔬 The study interviewed 16 family pairs in Guangzhou and found that Chinese youths with mental health issues, in the context of parent–child conflicts, not only resisted their parents but also resisted dominant social discourses, including beliefs that emphasize closeness, the discourse of education, the discourse of hardship tolerance, and the public belief in slenderness, which may also affect their mental health.🧠💭

Congratulations to all three! 👏👏👏

When we hesitate over small things and keep putting off big decisions, it can leave us feeling more anxious and drained. 😣⏳

Procrastination is not always about laziness — more often, it comes from a lack of decisiveness that keeps us from taking action early.

By practicing decision-making in everyday choices, we can gradually build decisiveness, reduce procrastination, and create a life that feels more organized and at ease. 🌱✨

People in mental health recovery face significant challenges when reintegrating into society.

Beyond readjusting to everyday life, they may also encounter stigma, misunderstanding, and discrimination from the wider community, making the recovery journey even more difficult.

Meaningful acceptance goes beyond words. It begins with understanding. The public can help create a more inclusive and dignified social environment for every person in recovery through our language, attitudes, and actions. 🤝💛🌱

While the debate over whether we should use AI continues, artificial intelligence is no longer a single thing. It is evolving into small models, local deployment, and agentic systems that can carry out multi-step work autonomously. In social work, what does this mean for practice, teaching, and research?🤖📚

If you are interested in how the social work field can seize this moment of change rather than be driven by technology, join us for a seminar by Professor Brian E. Perron as we explore how to build AI solutions that are more practical and relevant to the profession.🎓💡

A child with SEN may not always have an easy journey, but when every family member chooses to walk together, listen with care, and face challenges as one, strong communication, acceptance, and support can grow. Over time, this builds a more resilient family and gives the child greater strength to overcome every challenge along the way.💛👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🤝🌱✨

The Department of Social Work hosted the practitioner session “Connecting to Home in Transitional Accommodation” on 8 May.🏠 Assistant Professor Prof. Angela Cui Jialiang presented research findings and practical strategies for fostering a sense of “at‑homeness” within transitional accommodation. A lived‑experience advisory team of people who had stayed in transitional hostels was invited to share firsthand perspectives on how a sense of home in these settings plays a crucial role in recovery.

Around 150 social work practitioners joined in person and online; 💻🏫each in‑person attendee received a copy of the Research Drawing Booklet by People with Mental Illness, which uses interviewees’ artwork to help the public better understand their visions and hopes for an ideal home.🎨📘

🌟 Intergenerational co-parenting is never just about grandparents helping to look after the grandchildren — it goes so much deeper than that. What truly matters is whether parents and grandparents can build a shared approach to discipline, establish clear roles and responsibilities, and genuinely respect one another. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

When family members are on the same page and support each other, children are far more likely to thrive in a stable, secure, and loving environment. 💛🌱
