Dear Sir/ Madam,

The ASEAN Youth Volunteers Program (AYVP) was conceptualised by recognising the importance of volunteerism in the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint and in an attempt to bring ASEAN closer to the people in the region.

In line with that, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM or The National University of Malaysia) was tasked to lead, develop and implement the AYVP, with the support of the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the ASEAN Secretariat.

We are privilleged to announce that the AYVP Secretariat hosted by Asia Engage at UKM is organizing the Inaugural ASEAN Youth Eco-Leaders programme in Malaysia from 15thAugust – 20th September 2013. We are seeking your kind cooperation to publicise this programme to the young people in your network.

The inaugural programme focuses on the area of environment as we want to create a generation of young people in the region who are empowered to
take the lead in conserving their natural environment. Nowhere else is the need for collective responsibility in conservation more evident than in South-East Asia as we not only share borders but also the effects of unsustainable environmental practices.

This programme will be a fully funded and applicants are required to be from the ages of 18 to 30 and of ASEAN nationality.
The selection will be based on the merits of the individual. The closing date of application will be midnight 31st of May 2013. Only shortlisted volunteers will be notified. The selected participants will be notified after 30th of June 2013.
