To mark National Breastfeeding Week, researchers at the SHE Research Centre at TUS Athlone have developed a new Breastfeeding Toolkit, bringing together accessible, evidence-based information for breastfeeding mothers and their families.

The toolkit builds on ongoing research at TUS into the experiences of breastfeeding mothers in Ireland - from the different supports they turn to throughout their journey, to the challenges they can face when that support is difficult to navigate.

It’s all part of work to better understand how we can create more consistent, sustainable support for mothers and families when they need it most.

🧪 Earn while you learn: A new pathway into science at TUS Athlone

Meet our first group of laboratory apprentices, who have just begun their journey at our Mary Ward Centre for Sciences! 👏

Delivered in partnership with Ibec, the Laboratory Apprenticeship programme combines paid, hands-on experience with academic study, giving school leavers, career changers and mature students an alternative route into Ireland's growing life sciences sector.

It's fantastic to see this opportunity come to Athlone, connecting education with industry and opening up new career pathways here in the Midlands.

A warm welcome to our new apprentices, and a big thank you to Ibec and our industry partners for making it possible!
