Pharmacy technicians bring so much wherever they are working - the skill, the compassion, and the resilience they show across their workplaces in hospital, community, regulatory is appreciated by every single one of their colleagues. The role of the pharmacy technician has expanded in ways that none of us could have foreseen when we first opened our doors in 2005. On we are very conscious of how lucky we are to be pharmacists working in Ireland. We can order medicines for our patients and be reasonably sure they will be delivered. We can contact prescribers to answer queries. We have internet access, electricity, running water, functioning dispensaries and everything we need to do our jobs to the best of our ability. Our patients are not worrying about drone attacks when they collect prescriptions, they are given the medicines they need and can take them regularly as prescribed by their doctors. Not all of our pharmacy colleagues are so lucky, pharmacists working in war torn countries across the world are struggling to provide healthier futures for their patients.
