Last Wednesday evening saw the culmination of AccelerateHER, Blackstone LaunchPad at UCC's first-ever gender-specific programme. AccelerateHER was a positive action self-development programme that was designed for female students in UCC that were either in the final year of their undergraduate programme or in a postgraduate programme. Held over seven weeks the programme consisted of multiple workshops, individual coaching sessions and peer learning group meetings.
On Wednesday evening each of the participants delivered a very personal pitch about themselves, which was incredibly emotional but so positive and uplifting. The kindness that they have shown to one another and the camaraderie that has developed between them in a relatively short space of time is remarkable.
It has been a pleasure for Blackstone LaunchPad at UCC to support these women during their student journey and we wish them the best that life has to offer going forward. The tagline for AccelerateHER is "Find the courage to be yourself". We couldn't have asked for more from these inspiring females.
Congratulations to them all!
A very big thank you to the donor that supported the delivery of this programme - your support has had a profoundly positive impact on the 29 young women that participated in the programme.
Thanks also to Professor John O'Hallora, UCC Deputy-President and Registrar for presenting the Certificates of Completion and for his inspiring words.
A final word of thanks to our colleagues in UCC's UCC Graduate Attributes Programme and the UCC Development and Alumni Relations Office for their support in relation to AccelerateHER.
