What a glorious day! This week’s fieldwork saw a fantastic collaboration between the Ecology students and Geospatial Technology students as they carried out a rocky shore beach survey out in Fountainstown. Interrupted belt transects, population studies, calculations of shore height and measuring of limpet length saw the ecologists putting new skills to the test in a beautiful beach setting! Last year I went to Tramore Road Campus in search of a PLC course that would bring me back to academic life and also get me ready for a possible opportunity in a university. During my interview at Tramore Road Campus, I met Ella Daly, head lecturer for the Geospatial Technology course. After our talk, I left the place knowing that was what I wanted to do.
The Geospatial Technology course helped me secure a place in MTU for the Civil Engineering course, in which I am using and will use many of the skills developed in the GST course such as, land surveying and digital mapping techniques, AutoCAD and QGIS.
I would like to thank Ella and all my lecturers at TRC for the opportunity they gave me and would recommend the course to anyone seeking for a career in engineering in an area that already has great opportunities and will become increasingly important in our everyday lives. Geospatial Technology is the present and the future.

🏃‍♀️⚽🏋️ Sport This Week at Tramore Road Campus 🏋️⚽🏃‍♂️

It has been another busy and successful week across our Sports Department at Tramore Road Campus!

✅ Leisure, Recreation & Gym Instruction students undertook a range of fitness tests, exploring both the health-related and skill-related components of fitness. There was plenty of enthusiasm, determination, and competitive performances on display throughout the testing sessions.

✅ Our Exercise Performance & Personal Training students are working hard preparing and delivering exercise classes, while also developing a Workout of the Week for users of our college gym.

✅ Coaching and Physical Education Year 2 students are busy planning and organising sporting activities for all students to enjoy before the October break.

✅ Finally, our newly formed Cork College of FET Men’s Soccer Team took to the pitch for a home fixture, proudly representing the college with great teamwork, commitment, and spirit.

Well done to all our students and staff on another fantastic week of learning, coaching, fitness, and sport. We look forward to seeing what the coming weeks bring!
