University College Dublin (UCD) has awarded an honorary doctorate to Breege O’Donoghue, Primark pioneer and Irish business leader, in recognition of an exceptional career in international business, her contribution to Irish business and society, and her longstanding commitment to UCD and its students.

Having graduated from the UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1972 her advice to executives starting out reflects the values that have shaped her approach to leadership: “Know right from wrong, be ethically aware. Be satisfied only with the very best, do not be clothed in power and status, but generous in mind and heart and spirit. And yes, it is encouragement and love that inspire people to succeed and be happy the world over.”

Congratulations to JP McGrath on his recent appointment with Aurivo. Wonderful to see graduates in leadership roles across so many sectors.

🧑‍🎓🚜 UCD graduate JP McGrath has been appointed Chief Executive of Aurivo and will take up the position in late September.

A Chartered Accountant and UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.), JP brings extensive leadership experience across the food, agri-business, renewable energy, and manufacturing sectors.

He joins Aurivo from Dairygold, where he served as Chief Financial Officer, and previously held senior financial, commercial, and operational roles with Bord na Móna, Norbrook Laboratories, and Aryzta.

Farmer-owned Aurivo supports more than 10,000 members and works with over 950 family farms. Employing more than 750 people, the co-operative operates across dairy ingredients, consumer foods, agribusiness and livestock marts, playing an important role in Ireland’s agri-food sector and rural communities.

One week already since the annual UCD Business undergraduate Summer school took place with over 200 transition and fifth-year students visiting Quinn to explore university life.

What a fun day with taster lectures and interactive workshops on Marketing in Society, AI, Digital Innovation, Decision Making, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain, and Global Business.

Thanks to all who took part and to our amazing student ambassadors for helping to make the day such a success.

It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm from the next generation of students and hopefully we will see some of the participants join us for Orientation in 2027 & 2028!
