Trinity Business School This is the official Facebook site for Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. We challenge. We nurture. We achieve.

Trinity Business School has a globally-recognised track record in all areas of Business research, most particularly international business, public service management, social entrepreneurship and finance. In 2021, we achieved triple accreditation, placing us in the top 1% of business schools worldwide, and were named ‘highest riser’ by the Financial Times. We are globally orientated, operating from a state-of-the-art building in a European city centre location, strategically positioned to lean into the businesses and organisations with whom we collaborate. In a rapidly changing world, we present an international perspective and stand at the frontier of innovative research questions that challenge our daily lives. Trinity College is Ireland’s premier university, with a tradition of excellence in research and teaching stretching over four centuries. Business is a long established discipline in the College, having been formed as a School of Commerce in 1925 and transformed into the School of Business in the sixties. Today, the School is recognised for its unique and innovative degree programmes, commitment to research-based teaching, and its intimate, tutorially-oriented educational philosophy. The School’s mission is to educate the most able undergraduates, postgraduates and experienced managers, providing each with the best disciplinary competence in management as well as a critical and inquiring understanding of organisations. We achieve this by recruiting and nurturing scholars who engage in research of international standing as the essential foundation for research-based teaching.

Two days of big ideas and great conversations at Trinity Business School! 💡

Last week, we welcomed employers, educators and policymakers for Digital Talent EU Days 2026 to explore how we can build digital skills and open up digital careers to more people across Europe.

From supporting women in tech to helping people develop new skills as AI changes how we work, there was plenty to discuss and share. It was great to see people connecting, exchanging experiences and bringing fresh perspectives to these important topics.

We were also delighted to welcome sixth-class students from Mary, Mother of Hope Junior National School in Dublin, pictured with Professor Laurent Muzellec, Professor Na Fu, Provost Dr Linda Doyle, Rehana Schwinninger-Ladak and Sabrina Di Ruggiero.

Thank you to all our speakers and participants who made the two days such a success! 👏

When fashion borrows culture, who benefits? 👘
Fashion Month has just ended, with the latest collections taking centre stage. But before these designs make their way to the high street, how often do we stop to consider the cultures and communities behind the latest trends?

Trinity Business School's Dr Ronika Chakrabarti, Associate Professor in Marketing, explores what happens when cultural designs from some of the world's poorest marketplaces are copied and commercialised by fashion brands.

Her research raises important questions about cultural ownership, the value of traditional art and who ultimately benefits when cultural heritage becomes a fashion trend.

As she explains in this video, “Art is not just decoration. It can be income, heritage and survival.”

So next time a design catches your eye, ask yourself: Whose culture inspired it, and who is benefiting?

When “giving back” backfires.

In this new video from our What the Research Says series, Trinity Business School’s Dr Kiera Dempsey-Brench, Assistant Professor in Human Resource Management, explores why employee volunteering can backfire when organisations frame it as a learning and development opportunity.

The research, carried out with Professor Amanda Shantz, Professor of Responsible Leadership at Trinity Business School, looks at how employees respond when skills-based volunteering is presented as an opportunity for learning.

Some employees responded with curiosity and began to reflect on what they had gained through volunteering, including confidence, empathy, communication and leadership skills.

Others reacted very differently. They felt defensive or frustrated by the idea that volunteering should be linked to personal or professional benefit.

For them, volunteering was about giving, not gaining.

The research highlights an important lesson for organisations: social initiatives can create real value, but how they are framed matters.
If employees feel they are being told why they should care, even well-intentioned initiatives can have the opposite effect.

If the same lie appeared in your feed five times, would it still feel like a lie?

Trinity Business School’s Dr Ashish Kumar Jha shares three ways to avoid being misled by repeated claims online:

1. Pause before you share.
2. Check beyond your feed.
3. Notice repetition.

These tips are grounded in research published in Information Systems Research, a journal of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).

The study found that social media users can begin developing stable opinions about unfamiliar topics after seeing only a handful of consistent posts. After roughly five exposures, users’ impressions often began to stabilise and shape how they responded to future information.

Remember: seeing the same claim again and again does not make it true!
