Shout out to all involved in When Forests Sings at Blackwater Valley Opera Festival tomorrow!

RIAM students and young musicians living with a disability worked with composer Karen Power to co-create this wordless opera, combining voice, instruments, technology, and forest soundscapes from around the world into a brand new work.

Following its premiere in the Samual Beckett Theatre in December, we couldn't be more pleased to see it receive a second outing at Ireland’s Summer Opera Festival.

Toi toi toi to all!

Our John Ritchie harpsichord has a new lease of life thanks to 3D printing!

When replacement parts couldn't be sourced, Professor David Adams, Organ and Harpsichord teacher, collaborated with Jonathan Nangle, who teaches contemporary Composition and Music Technology, to find a solution.

New harpsichord jacks and tongues were modelled and 3D printed by Jonathan, then fitted by David to restore the instrument to playing condition.

Teamwork makes the d̶r̶e̶a̶m̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶k̶ ̶ harpsichord work!

Huge thanks to the Music Capital Scheme for helping us improve access to larger, less commonly played, and more expensive instruments, including those needed by incoming scholarship students taking part in RIAM Performing Groups. By helping to remove one of the main barriers to participation, this support creates greater opportunities for students to learn, grow, and perform at the highest level.

Thank you to the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and Music Network for making this possible.
