A very successful hands-on creative studies session today, exploring clay through touch, texture, shape and imagination.

Learners experimented with a range of techniques, from simple impressions and sensory exploration to pinch pots, pumpkins and their own individual creations. A good reminder that creative experiences with children are about the process, exploration and choice, not producing identical finished products.

Activities like this can support sensory development, fine motor skills, creativity, problem-solving, communication and confidence, while giving children opportunities to follow their own ideas and interests.
