The Bright Side of Life
A pessimistic young man receives a mysterious self-help book and tries to create the life he’s

Our 4th year Major Projects screening at the Film Showcase tomorrow Thursday 21st May from 3-6pm in the IMC are:

Threads of a Town - documentary
In every Irish town, a thread runs through time, connecting the ordinary to the extraordinary, and the past to the future.

All is Behind - drama
Anthony, a former snooker champion, converses with Aoife, an ambitious snooker prodigy, he slowly reveals how his career and personal life was derailed by his own actions.

We Must Be Better - drama
Two brothers bond through the toxic media mentality altered household. The toxicity is amplified when the parents experience redundancy and loss. They learn to embrace who they are and to be better than what came before them.

To Be Loved - drama
Esme, a soon-to-be college student struggles with the absence of love in her life, especially from the men around her. From ex boyfriends to absent fathers and her own inner conflicts, it's safe to say she has a lot on her plate. After a friendship ritual, a common occurrence that happens with her two friends Michelle and Iris, Esme finds herself with a bottle of perfume that, when sprayed, unbeknownst to her, makes the men around her obsessed with her. She embarks on an overwhelming journey of infatuation and desire, everything that she's ever wanted or so she thinks.

ANNUAL FILM SHOWCASE AT IMC DUNDALK

The annual Film Showcase of work from 3rd & 4th year students on the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production in the Department of Creative Arts, Media & Music takes place tomorrow Thursday 21st May from 3-6pm in the IMC Dundalk by invitation only.

Across both years, students conceive and write scripts for short films/TV dramas/docs and throughout the year, and work in groups following an industry-standard production process. During development and pre-production this includes weekly production meetings, fundraising, sourcing & organising locations, casting, sourcing props, dressing, costumes, script readings, creating risk assessments, scheduling shoots, etc. Shoots took place across the region in February and March and since then students have been engaged with picture and audio post-production with continuous feedback from their lecturers Sarah McCann, Eamonn Crudden, Lorcan Dunne, Marina Hughes, Kevin Cunnane, Noel Smyth, Colm Mullen and Richie Price, in order to compete their projects for screening at the showcase.

Tomorrow's event also sees the presentation of the following awards:

- Samson Films Best Short Film Award - 3rd year
- Martha O'Neill Best Creative Documentary Award - 3rd year
- Dearbhla Walsh Best Major Project Award - 4th year

A DKIT short doc called Moving On has won the Best Overall Film award at Dublin University Film Festival in the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin.

It was made last semester on the Y3 Creative Documentary module. The film is: An exploration of childhood comfort items and the psychological and emotional significance they hold.

It was directed by Niall Daly.

In addition, a short film called Heart & Soul made independently by 2nd year student Donagh Walsh won Best Cinematography at the festival.

Students from Ó Fiaich College performed their original composition, School Blues, in the DkIT Recital Room as part of a live music video project. The production was a collaborative effort between students from the Audio and Film courses at Dundalk Institute of Technology.
The project was coordinated by Lorcan Dunne, Production Lecturer at DkIT; Dr Niall Coghlan, Senior Lecturer in Audio and Music Production at DkIT; and Daniel McDermott, Music Programme Coordinator at Ó Fiaich College.

🎉 You’re invited: Creative Media Graduate Exhibition 🎉
Join us for a showcase of ambitious Creative Media capstone projects created by emerging designers, storytellers, and digital makers. This exhibition brings together a striking range of work — including games, documentaries, interactive books, speculative design, podcasts, installations, photography, illustration, and digital platforms — each one demonstrating how creative practice can ask meaningful questions about the world we live in.
Expect projects that explore how we communicate and connect in a fast‑changing digital culture, from interactive narratives and AR experiences to web‑based infographics, AI influencers and audio‑led storytelling. Many works also engage with real social themes such as identity, gender equality, body image, mental wellbeing, memory loss, online behaviour, and the ethical impact of technologies like AI.
