We’re hiring in the Department of Hospitality Studies at Dundalk Institute of Technology👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

We currently have a vacancy for a Technician – Hospitality/Culinary Arts (Food Studies). The role will support practical teaching, demonstrations, assessments, student projects, research and industry engagement across our specialist culinary and hospitality facilities.

We’d love to hear from candidates with a background in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Food Studies, Food Science/Technology or a related discipline, along with relevant professional or technical experience.

🎀 Big Pink Breakfast & Walk and Talk for Breast Cancer 🎀
Join us in the Hospitality Department from 10.30 a.m. Tuesday 20th October for tea, coffee, sweet treats, a fantastic raffle and other fun activities! ☕🧁
A new addition to our Pink event this year is a Walk and Talk for Breast Cancer. At 11 a.m., Tuesday 20th October our third-year Event & Hospitality Management students will lead a short walk, a chance to enjoy some fresh air and a chat with colleagues before returning for more refreshments and activities.

Whether you’re joining the walk or simply popping in for a cuppa, everyone is welcome. We’d love to see you there! 💕

🌟 A finalist to be proud of! 🌟

Huge congratulations to our DkIT Hospitality Management graduate, Crisalis Ulloa, who is a finalist for Graduate Manager of the Year at the 2026 IHI Hospitality Management Awards! 🏆

After being shortlisted and interviewed by three industry experts, reaching the final is already a fantastic achievement. 👏

The winner will be announced on Thursday, 26 November, at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin.

We are so proud of you, Crisalis, and wish you every success on the night! 🎉💛

Earlier this week, our Event Management and Tourism students joined a virtual presentation with Alva Pearson from ITOA (Inbound Tourism Operators Association) to learn more about the work of ITOA members and the many career opportunities within Ireland’s inbound tourism sector. 🌍

We were also delighted to hear about ITOA’s generous bursary opportunity for a Dundalk Institute of Technology student who successfully completes their placement with one of its member companies.

A big thank you also to Anya from Wallace Travel Group who shared her own career journey and gave students a great insight into what it’s like to work in a Destination Management Company (DMC).

Our Year 2 students will soon be preparing for placement (Culinary, Hospitality and Event Management students from March 2027 and Tourism students from May 2027) so the timing couldn’t have been better.

A great example of industry and education working together to support the next generation of tourism and events professionals. 👏

🎀 Give the Boot to Breast Cancer! 🎀

DkIT is turning pink once again! Join us for the Big Pink Coffee Morning in support of the Irish Cancer Society’s annual Breast Cancer Campaign. 💗

📍 Outside the Hospitality Training Restaurant, Faulkner Building, DkIT

Hosted by our 3rd-year Event and Hospitality Management students, come along for sit-down or takeaway tea and coffee, delicious sweet treats, a raffle and fun games! ☕🧁🍰

Together, we’re raising awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection, while raising vital funds to support people affected by cancer and their families.
