Finglas and Cabra Adult Education Service City of Dublin FET College FREE Part-time Adult Education The CDETB Adult Education Guidance Service for Finglas and Cabra was set up in 2006. Karen Granville is our Guidance Counsellor.

This service provides free information and guidance to adults living in the Finglas and Cabra areas, about their education, training and career options. It is part of the CDETB Adult Education Service which provides part-time courses to adults free of charge. High priority is given to adults and early school leavers with low or no formal qualifications, adults with low literacy levels, long term unemployed, lone parents, adults considering or participating in Adult Literacy, Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) programmes and Community Education. A confidential meeting with a qualified Adult Education Guidance Counsellor will help you look at: education options, funding entitlements, progression routes or related issues. Our Information Officer provides up to date information on a range of full time / part time education and training options available to adults throughout the Finglas and Cabra areas. A huge thank you to our local TD, Marie Sherlock, for being a guest speaker at our Presentation of Certificates last night! 🎓 We really appreciate her taking time out of her busy schedule to join us.

Congratulations to all our learners in City of Dublin FET College Cabra! It was very moving to listen to learners and staff share their experiences and hear about how far our learners have progressed. 🎉

We had amazing results in our Special Needs Assisting classes, with exceptionally high retention rates!

🤟 For the first time in the Adult Education Service, we had students from the Deaf community receiving QQI Level 5 awards in Care Skills and Care of the Elderly.

The students were astounded to see their tutor, Róisín Harbourne, signing her speech! What a wonderful moment to celebrate inclusion, achievement and the power of adult education. 🙌

🌱🐝 Green skills in action at City of Dublin FET College Finglas & Cabra! 🌿🐦

Our gardening students in Cabra have been busy getting their hands dirty — planting, pruning and learning how to create spaces that support biodiversity. 🌱

One of their latest projects is a dead hedge — and it’s much more than just a pile of garden cuttings!

🍂 It provides shelter and nesting spaces for birds and wildlife.
🐝 It creates a habitat for insects and other small creatures.
🌿 It gives garden cuttings a new purpose while helping to support biodiversity.

Our students will be keeping a close eye on their dead hedge to see which insects, birds and animals come to visit! 🐞🦔🐦

Practical skills in gardening, biodiversity and environmental care are becoming increasingly valuable. At City of Dublin FET College Finglas and Cabra, our students are developing the knowledge and hands-on skills that can help create greener, healthier communities — one garden at a time. 🌍💚
