NUIG St. Vincent de Paul Soc

NUIG St. Vincent de Paul Soc We're a society who do fundraising on behalf of the Galway SVP branch. Our meetings are every Monday evening at 6pm in the library of the College Chapel.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the largest, voluntary, charitable organisation in Ireland. Its is a society that is working for social justice and the creation of a more just, caring nation. The aim of the St Vincent de Paul Society is to tackle poverty in all its forms through the provision of practical assistance to those in need. SVP has seen a huge increase in people calling on us for h

elp in regions like Dublin, Cork and the Galway. In Dublin alone, SVP have recieved almost a 100% increase in calls for assistance over the last two years . Many of these calls are coming from families with young children; in fact 65% of calls this year have come from parents with young families who requesting help to pay for food, heating, mortgage payments or other basic necessities. We are a relatively small society on campus but are looking to expand and grow and help those less well off in Galway. We organise various fundraising activities throughout the year and also arrange visits to the St. Francis nursing home once a week. All of the money we raise goes to families in need around Galway City. Everyone is welcome! Or if you see us around campus, please support!
