UL Student Life UL Student Life is based in the Student Centre. We are here to advise, support, and represent students.

UL Student Life has 4 elected officers to represent your President, Welfare Officer, Academic Officer, and Communities Officer UL Student Life is the representative body for 15,000 UL students. Students automatically become members of the Union upon enrolment, and from that day on the three sabbatical officers (President, Welfare, Academic Officers) as well as the part-time members of the Union's Executive Committee, do their best to represent and help you with any problems you may have during your time in college. UL Student Life represents you both within and without the University, as well as providing you with services such as a fortnightly newspaper, welfare and academic advice, a common room, a games room, clubs and societies and much more.

📣 An open letter to members of Dáil Éireann

As the numerous emails we have sent to Ministers over the last number of weeks have been ignored, we are openly sharing our concerns regarding yesterday’s budget announcement.

The one and only response we received was from Minister Simon Harris simply to say that “contents will be considered in the context of the forthcoming Budget.”

After yesterday’s budget announcement, it was made clear that our asks weren’t considered, let alone reflected. This is showing, once again, a complete failure from your government to build a future for third level students in this country.

We will also echo the calls we have repeatedly made to Minister Lawless since July. As UL Student Life operates independently and is not a member organisation of AMLÉ, the unique concerns of our students are entirely left out of any meaningful engagements with the minister. We requested a direct meeting to address this representation gap - and it is time for the Department to follow through.

As we said in our letter, and will say here again, it’s time that they stop play politics with our education, address the real crisis on our campuses, and invest in the generation holding this country’s future together.
