Junior Football 🏐

Hard luck to our Junior football team, who were beaten by last year’s Leinster finalists, Moyne, in Drumlish today.

The girls put in huge work throughout the game, with a number of 1st Year students featuring as a result of all our TYs being away. It was always going to be a difficult task with experienced TYs missing, but the girls put in some fantastic performances and clocked up a score of 3-10. 💪

Huge credit goes to Lillie Ann, Ella, Mia and Ellen, who togged out for the Juniors today despite only being in 1st Year. Lillie Ann put in an excellent performance at wing back, whilst Ella even managed to get her first goal for our school! 👏🏼

🎤TY Visit to the Irish Institute of Music and Song🎶

Our TY students had a fantastic visit to the Irish Institute of Music and Song in Balbriggan, where they took part in three exciting and interactive workshops!

From composing their own music using software to exploring musical theatre and trying their hand at beatboxing, students had the opportunity to get creative, learn new skills, and discover different ways to express themselves through music. 🎵

A big thank you to the Irish Institute of Music and Song for such an engaging and enjoyable experience! 👏

Every Day Counts. Every Point Counts.📚

As part of our October Attendance Drive, we are reminding students that every school day counts and makes a difference!

📊 New ESRI research highlights the link between school attendance and Leaving Certificate outcomes. Missing 20+ days in a school year is associated with a points gap of over 80 points. 📉

Every day in school is an opportunity to learn, build confidence and work towards your goals. Consistent attendance helps you keep your options open and make the most of your potential.

💪 BE HERE. BE IN. BE IN TO WIN!

🏑 Camogie 4 Fun Blitz 2026! 🏑

On Tuesday, our 1st and 2nd Year camogie players travelled to the GAA National Games Development Centre in Abbotstown to take part in the Camogie 4 Fun Blitz 2026!

The girls played matches against other schools from around Leinster, developing their camogie skills and building confidence on the pitch. There were a variety of activities on during the day. The girls also enjoyed a dance workshop and took part in a creative sliotar design event. 🎨

The blitz provided a great opportunity for our students to learn new skills and gain experience through match play.

Well done to all our students for their enthusiasm and participation throughout the day!

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our former Principal, Mr. Paul Costello, who served as Principal of Meán Scoil Mhuire from 2006 to 2016.

During his ten years as Principal, Paul was a highly respected and valued member of our school community. He made a significant contribution to Meán Scoil Mhuire and will be remembered with great fondness and respect for his dedication, leadership and commitment to the education and wellbeing of our students and staff.

His impact on our school and the many lives he touched throughout his career in education will not be forgotten.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Paul’s family, friends, former colleagues and all who knew him at this difficult time.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. 🕊️

🎓 Midlands IGC/TUS College & Careers Event 🎓

On the 8th of October, our 6th Year students attended the first ever Midlands IGC/TUS College & Careers Fair.

The event gave students an opportunity to gather information about college courses nationwide and career opportunities. Students also had the chance to explore the International Arena facilities available at TUS Athlone and see demonstrations in robotics and simulated welding on the day. 🤖🔧

Our thanks to the students involved for their participation and to the organising and supervising teachers. 👏
