Transition Year Bonding Trip

Transition Year students enjoyed a fantastic bonding trip to Boda Borg in Lough Key Forest Park on Thursday. 🧩🌲

The girls took part in exciting escape-room style challenges, testing their teamwork and problem-solving skills. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day!

🎶 Farrell Clan Schools Heritage Project 2026 🎶

A look back at our students’ contribution to the Farrell Clan Schools Heritage Project. Their recording of ‘Ar Gach Uile Slí’, celebrating Irish singer Niamh Farrell, was played at events during the 10th International Farrell Clan Rally over the summer, while their project was also displayed in Longford Library.

We are delighted to introduce our Peer Mentors for the 2026/27 school year. 🌟

Our mentors have kindly volunteered to assist our new 1st Year students as they settle into our school community, offering guidance, encouragement and a friendly face.

They were a wonderful support during today’s Induction Programme. We thank them for their time, kindness and leadership. They are fantastic role models for our school community.

🌟 Welcome to Meán Scoil Mhuire! 🌟

Today, we were delighted to welcome our 1st Year students as they began their secondary school journey with us at Meán Scoil Mhuire.

Throughout their Induction Day, students had the opportunity to become familiar with their new surroundings, meet their tutors, mentors, teachers and classmates and begin settling into life at Meán Scoil Mhuire. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces, new friendships forming and first-day nerves quickly disappearing!

Many thanks to our 1st Year Head, Ms. Macko, our 1st Year Tutors and Mentors, and every member of staff who helped to organise and support today’s Induction Programme. Their care, encouragement and hard work ensured that our newest students received such a warm welcome and positive start.

We also thank parents and guardians for their continued support and look forward to working closely with you throughout the years ahead.

To all our new 1st Years - fáilte romhaibh go léir! We are delighted to welcome you to our school community and look forward to watching you learn, grow, form lasting friendships and create many happy memories at Meán Scoil Mhuire!

We hope all members of our school community have enjoyed the summer break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to Meán Scoil Mhuire over the coming days, beginning tomorrow with our 1st Year, 6th Year & LCA 2 students. We extend an especially warm welcome to our 1st Year students as they begin their journey with us!

A huge congratulations to Emily Q. , who was part of the Leinster U18 Girls rugby team that secured an impressive 39–27 win over Ulster at Affidea Stadium over the weekend. 🏉

A fantastic achievement and a very proud moment for Emily, her family, her club and everyone at Meán Scoil Mhuire.

⚡REMINDER: Second-Hand Uniform Sale!⚡
Meán Scoil Mhuire, Longford will hold a Second-Hand Uniform Sale tomorrow, Monday, 24th August, 2026 from 11am until 12:30pm. A limited number of school jumpers, trousers, blouses, PE uniforms and footwear will be available on a first come, first served basis. Come early to avoid disappointment! All proceeds go towards our Student Support Fund. All uniform items for donation should be washed/clean and of good quality.
