Great research been carried out at UCD promoting the maintenance of optimal dietary intake and physical activity as we age. Older adults are at higher risk of undernutrition due to key physiological changes in appetite regulation associated with the ageing process. This is further exacerbated by medical conditions, social isolation, and physical inactivity. Even though we need more protein and fibre as we get older, we do not know if or how either affect appetite and therefore nutrient intake. This is what we aim to find out.
