For decades, Prof. Emeritus Mooli Lahad has helped people and communities transform trauma into resilience. Yesterday, he received Israel's Presidential Medal, the country's highest civilian honor, from President Isaac Herzog at a special ceremony at the President's Residence. 🎖️

A globally recognized pioneer in resilience, psychotrauma, and crisis intervention, Prof. Lahad has dedicated his career to strengthening societies in times of adversity. From founding the Community Stress Prevention Center in Kiryat Shmona and developing the groundbreaking BASIC PH resilience model, to leading psychological support missions in disaster and conflict zones worldwide, his work has shaped resilience practice both in Israel and around the globe.

For many years, Prof. Lahad also led Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee’s Drama Therapy Program and International Academic Relations Unit, helping educate and inspire generations of students and professionals.

Our Research Day, recently held on the Roadburg Campus, brought together more than 100 researchers to showcase their work across the natural and environmental sciences, social sciences, humanities, and education.

Among the many fascinating projects presented were water quality monitoring technologies; research exploring the link between the use of AI tools and compassion fatigue among teachers; and a study examining the reluctance of reservists' spouses to seek psychological therapy and family counseling during the war.

Different disciplines, one shared purpose: transforming research into knowledge and solutions that address both local and global challenges.

University President Prof. Eliezer Shalev said at the event: “In the universe, there are infinite subjects waiting to be discovered, and that is your role as researchers.”🌍🔬

When life in the Upper Galilee was repeatedly disrupted, artists kept reimagining home. 🎨

We are proud to celebrate the opening of "Landscape Reframed," an exhibition born from a year of creation in a region profoundly shaped by tensions, uncertainty, and constant change.

Created through a unique partnership between Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee's Tel-Hai Arts Institute and מוזיאוני חיפה | Haifa Museums, among Israel's leading cultural institutions, the exhibition amplifies the voices of artists living and working in the Upper Galilee, and offers a powerful reflection on place, belonging, and resilience.

Over the past couple of years, creative processes were interrupted time and again. Yet the artists continued to observe, question, create, and reimagine the landscape they call home. Through painting, sculpture, and installation, "Landscape Reframed" captures not only a geographic landscape, but also an inner one: a portrait of this moment, in this place, through the eyes of those experiencing it firsthand.

As we prepare to welcome students for our first-ever academic year as Israel's newest university, we were honored to host the leadership of the Council for Higher Education in Israel (CHE) and its Planning and Budgeting Committee (PBC) at our Roadburg Campus.

The visit came at a defining moment for our institution and for northern Israel, highlighting the vital role higher education can play in regional recovery, resilience, and long-term growth.

According to PBC Chair Prof. Ami Moyal: "There is an extraordinary opportunity here not simply to establish another university, but to build an institution that is deeply connected to its region; a university that attracts students, researchers, and faculty to the North, strengthens agriculture, industry, and communities, creates quality employment, and helps build the future of Kiryat Shmona and the Galilee."

As we begin this historic new chapter, this visit was a powerful vote of confidence in our vision, in the future of the Galilee, and in the ability of research, education, and innovation to create lasting impact.

Meet our researcher Carmel Even, a PhD student currently conducting research at Purdue University through the prestigious Graduate Student Fellowship of BARD - US Israel Binational Agricultural Research and Development Fund, which promotes scientific collaboration between Israeli and U.S. researchers. 🌎

A graduate of Tel-Hai University's BSc and MSc programs in Nutritional Science, Carmel is part of a new generation of researchers advancing innovation at the intersection of nutrition, microbiome science, and human health.

Carmel's research, under the supervision of Dr. Faiga Magzal, Prof. Snait Tamir, and Prof. Nael Elias, explores how nutrition shapes the gut microbiome and influences health, opening new possibilities for nutrition-based approaches in autism research.

She is pursuing her research within the joint doctoral program of Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee and the Faculty of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University, while building new scientific collaborations that connect Israeli and U.S. research communities.

Harvest season is in full swing! 🍇

Researchers and students at Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee are back in the vineyards, working alongside regional partners to study grapevine varieties resistant to fungal diseases.

This year marks the second year of wine production from the varieties under evaluation, as part of a long-term research project. One of the things that makes this work unique is the hands-on involvement of our students, who take part in every stage of the process, from harvest to winemaking. 🍷

By connecting research, education, and agriculture, the project is helping build the knowledge needed to develop more resilient grape varieties and support sustainable viticulture.

Hundreds of prospective students joined us at the 2026 Open Day on our Roadburg Campus, where they met faculty members, current students, and alumni; explored academic programs; toured laboratories and campus facilities; attended presentations; and experienced the vibrant academic community that defines Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee.💫

In October, we will begin our first academic year as a university, completing our transition from a leading academic college to a research university. With the launch of our new Cluster (Faculty) of Engineering and Advanced Computing, we continue to strengthen our commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders while expanding opportunities in the region.

From Tanzania to the Galilee, Magelela S. Madida is helping shape the future of sustainable food.

As a PhD candidate in the joint doctoral program of Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee and the Technion, Magelela studies how agricultural side streams can be transformed into high-quality plant proteins with improved taste and appearance. His research combines protein science and flavor science to develop more appealing plant-based protein ingredients and support more sustainable food production.

Working under the supervision of Tel-Hai University's Prof. Ofir Benjamin and Prof. Yoav Livney of the Technion, Magelela's research contributes to addressing one of the world's most pressing challenges: food security.

For Magelela, the experience at Tel-Hai extends beyond research: "The welcoming academic community, genuine support from faculty and staff, and the inspiring surroundings of Tel-Hai have made my journey here deeply rewarding, and it truly feels like home."
