As a new year approaches, we’ve been thinking about what hope looks like. Sometimes, it’s big: a discovery, a breakthrough, an idea that changes what’s possible.

And sometimes, it’s much quieter. It’s choosing to keep learning, or showing up for one another, or starting again in a new country, a new classroom, or a new chapter.

As we enter Rosh Hashanah, we’re wishing our students, faculty, alumni, friends and communities a year of renewal, healing, connection and peace.

PhD student Neta Fibeesh took us inside Prof. Ben Maoz's lab at TAU’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, where researchers are using organ-on-a-chip technology to recreate aspects of human physiology and explore how our bodies respond to disease and treatment.

What does it mean to study climate change in a region where its effects are already part of everyday life?

Sara Weissel is a student in Social and Policy Aspects of Climate Change, now offered as a track within the New Environmental School TAU's Environmental Studies program.

Studying in a global climate hotspot gives Sara the opportunity to explore issues such as extreme temperatures, agriculture and the region’s unique geography not only in theory, but in the environment around her.

A degree tells us what someone studied, but what they do with it tells the rest of the story.

For the Class of 2026, graduation marks the beginning of many very different next chapters.

As valedictorian Ariel Stein, Conflict Resolution & Mediation program, reflected, “The most important thing for me has been the firsthand experience of facilitating dialogue between the actual parties. That was beyond my wildest dreams when I came here.”

Her fellow valedictorian, Serge Volodarski, Global MBA, left the graduating class with another reminder, “Choose your own path, work hard, and don’t let other people’s path decide your happiness.”
