Research Initiative MGIS These skills are a naturally derived consequence of the learning process and can be used effectively for diverse vocations.

Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS) is the first school in India to get registered by EDEXCEL as a vocational center for Level 3 BTEC program in Creative Media Production. A large multimedia project which is in full swing at the school incorporates all the senses and multiple areas of knowledge, thereby allowing students to develop their own interests and skills. One student may be interest

ed in holding the camera, a second in acting, a third in playing an instrument, a fourth interested in the mathematics or the physics involved in playing that instrument. The possibilities are endless and it is the school’s motto to initiate learning processes, to allow for the space and opportunity for students to identify and develop their own interests and skills. In 2012 MGIS had been awarded the Travel Grant, which was utilized to tie up with the Uk partners. MGIS wishes to share its pedagogical orientation and broaden its horizons by inviting the UK organization which will contribute in developing the school’s holistic educational projects by immersing itself in them and tapping in to new fields of learning in diverse and multiple areas of knowledge which stem from the projects themselves. The partner identified as of now is Dudley College in West midlands. A Team from MGIS 1) Anju Musafir (Director - Founder of MGIS) 2) Minoo Joshi (Senior Faculty, MYP Coordinator and founder member) Meenakshi Ganeriwala (Program Lead UKIERI and BTEC Coordinator) will visit Duduley College in UK from 24th January 2013 to 30th January 2013.The outcome of the visit would be submitted as a report to UKIERI for future endeavors. The report will open up avenues for larger projects between the two countries and benefit them mutually. In continuing relation ship with UKIERI MGIS has won the ICB strand 3 grant in January 2014. Through this venture, MGIS will tie up with its UK partner Dudley College, to provide multi-media modules for skill-based teacher training. These modules will benefit more than 5000 teachers across India and the UK and will build a strong emphasis on active and experiential learning, which is the foundation of the MGIS teaching philosophy. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our unique pedagogy and share it with other teachers across the world and contribute to the field of education. This would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts put in by the MGIS team as well as the support and encouragement from the entire MGIS community, that is you dear parents and students.
