Department is going to host international Conference on Recent Advances in Chemical Sciences during 29-30 March 2016.Prof.Anil.K.Singh from IIT Bombay will be the Chief Guest and VC AMU shall preside over the Conference.More than 200 research papers are expected to be presented during the conference.There will be 9 invited talks over the two days of the Conference.Prof.A.K.Singh will deliver the key note address.Department is hosting National and International Conferences almost every year since 2010.In the year 2011 we celebrated 100 years of the establishment of the department.Our department is one the biggest department of the University with 35 Faculty members and around 100 research scholars.Quality research is carried out by the faculty members.We hope to have a very successful Conference under the able and dynamic Chairmanship of Prof.M.Shakir,who is also convenor of the Conference.Prof.Rafiuddin is organising secretary.

Chemistry students are doing very well these days.They are applying in all IITs and are accepted in some.For the first time one of our very bright student Mr.Sk Saddam Husain goes to prestigious University of Hyderabad.6 out of four students are selected in IIT Madras.Ryhan Abdullah has been short listed for the prestigious SSESA scholarship program.It really augers well for the department.I congratulate all the students and wish them well.

Summer Project Fellowship

Applications are normally invited from the under-graduate and post-graduate students of mathematical, physical, chemical and biological sciences/ Engineering of the allied discipline of Indian Universities/Institutes/Colleges for the posts of Summer Project Fellow at IACS during March - April.
Each Fellowship is tenable for two months. The gross emoluments for the Fellowship for the under-graduate and post-graduate students are Rs. 3000/- per month and Rs. 5000/- per month, respectively.
Candidates may apply to the Dean (Academic) at sprf [AT] iacs.res.in giving the following details:
1. A brief bio-data
2. Intended area of work
Students are also requested to arrange for a letter of recommendation from Head/ Competent authority of the affiliated University/ College/ Institute. The final selection for the award of Fellowships is to be done by duly constituted committee.

INTERNATIONAL SUMMER RESEARCH AWARD (ISRA)

The Sir Syed Education Society of North America, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, invites applications for its second Annual “International Summer Research Award (ISRA)” from the students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), who are interested in summer research at universities in the United States of America (USA).

As part of “International Summer Research Award”, students will be placed in US universities for the summer internship program (2-3 months). Travel and Living expenses will also be covered. Selection will be based upon academic credentials and performance in personal and phone/Skype interview.

Interested students must send their (1) curriculum vitae, (2) names and contact information of three referees, (3) scanned copies of marksheets/grade-sheets, (4) scanned copy of the passport, (5) one page personal statement (SOP), explicitly discussing future academic/research plans and interest in pursuing summer research at a university in USA, and (6) other supporting documents as an attached file via e-mail to [email protected]. The deadline for the receipt of applications is November 30, 2014.

Selected candidates will be invited for an on-campus interview at the AMU campus. Students (BSc IIIrd year, BTech IVth year, MSc Ist/2nd year) from the Science, Life Science, Agriculture faculties and Engineering are eligible to apply. The list of successful awardees will be announced by Feb/March 2015. ISRA awardees will agree to an "Honor Code" that they will volunteer in ISRA/Sir Syed Emerging Scholar Award (SSESA) activities and help the program in the future.

Science Academies' Summer Research Fellowship Programme for Students and Teachers 2015.
The three national Science Academies offer several two-month Summer Fellowships to enable students/teachers (studying/teaching in India) to work with scientists associated with the three Academies during 2014. The last date for receipt of applications is 30 November 2014.
