National Seminar on “Women, Law and Technology: Emerging Legal Challenges in the Digital Era” Successfully organised
A National Seminar on “Women, Law and Technology: Emerging Legal Challenges in the Digital Era” was organised by B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), Department of Law, C.M.P. Degree College, on April 11, 2026. The seminar brought together legal experts, academicians, and students from across the country.
The seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest Hon’ble Ms. Justice Nand Prabha Shukla, Judge, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, in the esteemed presence of Ch. Jitendra Nath Singh, Former Mayor and Acting President, Kayastha Pathshala, Prayagraj, who presided over the Inaugural Session.
The event witnessed the participation of distinguished dignitaries including Guest of Honour Mrs. Sushil Kumari, Additional Principal Judge, Family Court, Prayagraj, Special Invitee Mrs. Priyanka Midha Kaushik, Advocate, High Court, Distinguished Guest Prof. Adesh Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad, Distinguished Guest Dr. Anshuman Mishra, Head, Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad, and Prof. S.S. Singh, Head, Department of Law, C.M.P. Degree College.
The event was conducted with inspiration of Ch. Raghavendra Nath Singh, Chairman, Kayastha Pathshala who has always motivated the faculty members for organising more such events.
The guests were formally welcomed by Session Chair Ch. Jitendra Nath Singh, who highlighted the growing relevance of legal discourse surrounding digital transformation and women’s rights. Principal Prof. Ajay Prakash Khare introduced the seminar's theme and highlighted the importance of academic discussions on such intersectional themes. The chief guest of the programme, the Hon'ble Justice Nand Prabha Shukla, shared insights into the necessity of understanding the empowering potential of technology and the safeguards against its misuse.
Smt Sushil Kumari, Principal Judge, Family Court, Prayagraj, discussed the practical relevance of intersectional analysis of law, women and technology. Ms. Priyanka Midha Kaushik highlighted the importance of technology in enhancing equality. Prof. Adesh Kumar discussed issues such as abortions, parliamentary representation and the need for political will for women's empowerment. Dr. Anshuman Mishra and Prof. S. S. Singh ignited the minds of young learners with the spirit of legal and technological empowerment.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Renu Singh, Coordinator, B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), who expressed gratitude to all distinguished guests, dignitaries, participants and contributors for the successful conduct of the seminar.
The seminar was conducted in a hybrid mode, combining both offline and online sessions. The offline technical session was moderated by Ms. Nivedita Kaundinya and Mr. Sandeep Agrahari, and chaired by Dr. Gurpinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Centre of Women Studies, University of Allahabad and Mrs Renu Singh. Two online sessions were also organized—one moderated by Mr. Himanshu Upadhyay and chaired by Mr. Ayush Saran (Law Officer, Rashtriya Raksha University) along with Dr. Prateek Seth, while the second session was moderated by Dr. Anushree Pandey and chaired by Ms. Mridani Pandey and Ms. Riya Singh.
A total of 51 participants from various states across India presented research papers on contemporary issues such as digital governance, artificial intelligence, IVF and data implications, menstrual tracking applications and data privacy, deepfakes, morphing, and issues of consent and privacy. The presentations were followed by interactive question-and-answer sessions, fostering meaningful academic discussions.
The seminar emphasised the urgent need to address emerging digital legal challenges, particularly those affecting women, and highlighted the importance of awareness, regulation, and technological accountability in the digital age.
