As a tribute to the founder Dr. Sam Higginbottom, who through his sincere services, hard work and dedication has contributed greatly towards enhancing the agriculture production in our Country, a proposal was submitted to Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi to re-christened Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University as “Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agricultur

e, Technology and Sciences”. In view of the above, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. F.13-7/2008-U.3.A, dated September 22, 2009 has permitted Re-Christening of the Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University as: “SAM HIGGINBOTTOM INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE, TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES” (Formerly Allahabad Agricultural Institute), (Deemed-to-be-University). n 2016, after considering the adequate availability of teaching / non-teaching staff and other essential infrastructure facilities in the Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences - Deemed University(SHIATS), Allahabad, the Uttar Pradesh Legislature decided to upgrade, reconstitute and establish SHIATS as a full-fledged University under the State Act so as to ensure successive development of Agricultural Education, Research, Extension, Science, Technology and other disciplines in the State. The Uttar Pradesh Legislature was pleased to pass the Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences, Uttar Pradesh Bill of 2016, and Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh very kindly gave his assent on the Bill on 27th December, 2016, thus, the SHUATS Act No. 35 of 2016 was published on 27th December, 2016. Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences, Uttar Pradesh Act, 2016 has been notified in the official Gazette vide Notification No. 1867/79-V-1-16-1(ka)36-2016 dated December 27, 2016.Vide Notification No. 2473/67-KSA-2016-900(2)/2010, dated December 29, 2016, Hon'ble Governor, Uttar Pradesh was pleased to appoint December 29, 2016 as the date on which the aforesaid Act would come into force. The Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences (SHUATS) is striving to acquire a place in the arena of International science and technology while holding a pioneering status in India. The University offers fourty-two (42) undergraduate programmes, hundred and one (101) postgraduate programmes, sixteen (16) diploma programmes and doctoral programe in various disciplines.

विश्व फिजियोथेरेपी दिवस 2026 | SHUATS

स्वास्थ्य, गतिशीलता और बेहतर जीवन की ओर एक कदम!

सैम हिगिनबॉटम यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ एग्रीकल्चर, टेक्नोलॉजी एंड साइंसेज (SHUATS), प्रयागराज में फैकल्टी ऑफ हेल्थ साइंसेज के फिजियोथेरेपी विभाग द्वारा 8 सितंबर 2026 को विश्व फिजियोथेरेपी दिवस का गरिमापूर्ण एवं उत्साहपूर्ण आयोजन किया गया।

कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि डॉ. के. डी. त्रिपाठी, वरिष्ठ ऑर्थोपेडिक सर्जन तथा विशिष्ट अतिथि प्रो. (डॉ.) रानू प्रसाद, प्रो वाइस-चांसलर, एकेडमिक अफेयर्स, SHUATS की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति रही। डॉ. जी. एस. शुक्ला, डीन, फैकल्टी ऑफ हेल्थ साइंसेज भी कार्यक्रम में उपस्थित रहे।

कार्यक्रम में फिजियोथेरेपी की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका — mobility, rehabilitation, functional independence और बेहतर quality of life — पर विशेष प्रकाश डाला गया। स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं में ऑर्थोपेडिक सर्जन, फिजियोथेरेपिस्ट एवं अन्य स्वास्थ्य पेशेवरों के बीच बेहतर समन्वय की आवश्यकता पर भी जोर दिया गया।

फिजियोथेरेपी के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय योगदान देने वाले स्वास्थ्य विशेषज्ञों को Token of Gratitude प्रदान कर सम्मानित किया गया।

कार्यक्रम की सफलता में फिजियोथेरेपी विभाग के विद्यार्थियों की सक्रिय भागीदारी, समर्पण और टीम भावना विशेष रूप से सराहनीय रही।

A Proud Milestone for SHUATS! 🎓🔬

Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), Prayagraj, had the honour of welcoming Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Kumar, Director, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Government of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, to the University today.

A significant milestone was marked with the signing of an MoU between UPSFSL and SHUATS. SHUATS has the honour of being the first University in the state of Uttar Pradesh with which UPSFSL has signed the MoU.

The proposal was being worked out for more than a decade and under the able leadership of Prof. (Dr.) ir. Jonathan A. Lal, Vice Chancellor, SHUATS, it could materialize.

The MoU was signed by the Pro Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Prof. (Dr.) Ranu Prasad and Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Kumar, Director, UPSFSL on behalf of SHUATS and FSL state of UP, Lucknow respectively.

A moment of immense pride for SHUATS, strengthening our commitment to academic excellence, scientific collaboration, forensic education and industry–institutional partnerships.

The visit also featured an insightful lecture entitled ‘3 NCL’s and their effective implementation from Forensic Aspects – A view point’ by Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Kumar at the University Auditorium, JIBB, engaging students and faculty with valuable perspectives from the field of forensic science. Drawing upon his professional experience, he discussed the role and significance of forensic science in several important and high-profile cases. He also highlighted the increasing number of Vacancies and provided valuable tips to the students preparing for career in the field of Forensic Science.

The Central Library, SHUATS, invites all students to participate in an exciting Instagram Reel Making Competition to celebrate Hindi Pakhwada 2026. Showcase your creativity and express your love for your University and the Central Library through an engaging Hindi reel.
Competition Rules
1. Eligibility
o The competition is open to all currently enrolled existing students of SHUATS.
2. Theme
o The reel should highlight the importance, facilities, services, memories, learning environment, or impact of SHUATS.
3. Language
o The primary language of the reel must be Hindi.
o Hindi captions and voice-over are encouraged.
4. Duration
o Reel duration should be 30–90 seconds.
5. Originality
o The reel must be the participant's own original work.
o Plagiarism or copied content will lead to disqualification.
6. Content Guidelines
o The video should maintain dignity, respect, and positivity.
o Avoid offensive, political, religious, or inappropriate content.
o Do not include copyrighted music or visuals without permission.
7. Technical Specifications
• Format: MP4 (preferred)
• Aspect Ratio: Vertical (9:16)
• Resolution: Minimum 720 × 1280 pixels; Full HD (1080 × 1920) preferred
• Audio should be clear and free from excessive background noise.
8. Posting Instructions
o Upload the reel on your Instagram account.

o The decision of the judging panel shall be final and binding.

Grand Celebration of National Sports Day 2026 at SHUATS

Tribute Paid to Major Dhyan Chand; Students Showcase Sporting Excellence

The Department of Physical Education, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), Prayagraj, organized a grand celebration of National Sports Day 2026 at the University Sports Ground to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary Indian hockey player and “Wizard of Hockey,” Major Dhyan Chand.

The programme highlighted the message “Khelo India–Fit India: Sports for All, Fitness for Life”, encouraging students, faculty and staff to embrace sports, fitness, discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle.

Tribute to Major Dhyan Chand

Prof. (Dr.) C. J. Wesley, Registrar and Chairman, Athletics Committee, SHUATS, paid floral tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, followed by Mr. Asish Massey, Head, Department of Physical Education and Secretary, Athletics Committee. University officials, faculty members, staff and players also paid their respects.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) C. J. Wesley recalled Major Dhyan Chand’s outstanding contribution to Indian hockey and his role in establishing India’s stature in world hockey. He also appreciated initiatives such as Khelo India and Fit India aimed at strengthening sports infrastructure, training and opportunities for athletes.

Mr. Asish Massey emphasized that sports go beyond competition and play an important role in building a healthy society and a strong nation. He encouraged students to make physical activity a regular part of their lives.

Students participated enthusiastically in athletics, volleyball, basketball and fitness activities. The major results were:

In volleyball, the Department of Physical Education men’s team secured victory over another University faculty team. In the Women’s Volleyball Underhand Service Competition, Arshala Shakeel secured first place, followed by Aditi Singh and Kismita Singh.

In the Women’s Basketball Net Shooting Competition, Aditi secured first place, Nishi Yadav second and Pavani third.

The enthusiastic participation and impressive performances reflected the sporting talent and spirit of the SHUATS community.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contribution of faculty members, staff, players and students of the Department of Physical Education in making the National Sports Day celebration a success.

SHUATS Inter-House Basketball Tournament 2026–27

The inaugural ceremony of the SHUATS Inter-House Basketball Tournament 2026–27 was held with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

The first matches were played between Yellow House and Red House in both the Men’s and Women’s categories, with Yellow House emerging victorious in both matches.

A great start to the tournament as our students showcase teamwork, discipline and competitive spirit.
