Massacre on Date 8 Jan 2020 Dr. Joginder Singh, Former HOD, History Department, Guru Nanak Dev University, Chair Person of Namdhari Chair, delivered an elaborate lecture on the historical significance of Jallianwala Bagh and the massacre. He explained how patriots and people from all the spheres of society took part in the struggle for independence. And in the end he inspired the students to acknowledge their duties towards their country.

Psychology Department of S R Government College (W), Amritsar, organised a seminar on ‘Sports Psychology and its Career Options’ on 5 February 2020. Dr Sonia Kapur from MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Science and Medicine, apprised the students about the growing demand of sports psychologists in India. Counselling the athletes to deal with competition anxiety; to strengthen them psychologically through mental imaging and motivation; and to resolve interpersonal issues for optimum teamwork and enhanced performance, were the key objectives of the degree course (MA Sports Psychology), which were discussed with the students.

Dr Sonia and her team also highlighted the available career opportunities to work as a sports psychologist with national and international teams, sports coordinator or development officer, as well as academic faculty in educational and sports institutions.

The presentation was highly enriching and informative, and evoked an interesting interactive session wherein the students participated heartily.

Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Gill, Deputy Director, Higher Education, Punjab was the Chief guest of the Convocation held on 25.01.20 for the batch of 2016-17 students. Around 550 post graduate and graduate students were conferred with degrees. Principal Dr. Savita Sachdeva read out the Annual Report of the College. Dr. Lakhwider Gill motivated the young girls to be firm and determined to be successful in life. A folk dance was presented on this occasion by the students of Dance dept.
