Subject: Complaint Regarding Shortlisting Discrepancy for Volunteer Home Guards in Constable Recruitment (Home Department – 4002 Posts)
Respected Sir/Madam,
We, the undersigned Volunteer Home Guards (VHGs) of Jammu & Kashmir, would like to submit our grievance regarding the ongoing recruitment process for the post of Constable in the Home Department (Total Posts: 4002) advertised by JKSSB.
As per the official advertisement, 4% of available vacancies were earmarked for Volunteer Home Guards having a minimum of three years of engagement. This corresponds to 160 posts for VHGs. Further, the notification clearly mentions that the number of candidates shortlisted for Physical Standard Test (PST) shall be six times the total vacancies per category, which should have resulted in 960 VHG candidates being shortlisted.
However, we are dismayed to find that only 315 VHG candidates have been shortlisted, which is significantly lower than the prescribed figure. This discrepancy:
Violates the principle of fair opportunity under the reservation quota for VHGs.
Contradicts the shortlisting criteria (6x rule) stated in the advertisement.
Potentially deprives eligible VHG candidates of their legitimate right to compete for the earmarked posts.
We respectfully request the Hon’ble JKSSB to:
Review the shortlisting process for VHG candidates.
Publish a revised shortlist in accordance with the reservation policy and the prescribed 6-times shortlisting criteria.
Ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment process for Volunteer Home Guards.
We trust that JKSSB will look into this matter urgently to uphold the principles of justice, transparency, and equal opportunity for all categories of candidates.
Thanking you in anticipation.
