Delay in results leaves students left in lurchSep 10, 2015, 10.54PM IST TNNBareilly: With many colleges yet to submit the marks of practical exams to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule (MJP) Rohilkhand University, over 2,000 students from various professional courses are in a fix as results have still not been announced.The final year students are worst-hit because they will not be able to seek admission in other universitiesor college due to delay in declaration of results. However, theuniversity authorities said that theyhave sent reminder notices to colleges.The exams of professional courses were conducted from July 1 onwards but more than two months have passed and there is no clarity as to when results will be declared. The university authorities have cited that a large number of affiliated colleges have not given 'viva and practical marks', which have to be included in the marksheets. The practical exams were conducted much before the written exams but still, scores of colleges have not yet provided it touniversity.A faculty member, who wished notto be named, said, "It has become a habit of colleges to send the practical marks after repeated reminders. In absence of practical marks, the university authorities are not in a position to declare the results and it puts the future of students at stake. However, senior officials have no solution to this problem. Until strict action is not taken against these colleges, they will not change their way of working."The faculty member added that as per the guidelines, the result of final year students should be announced before the beginning ofa new academic session, but even September has started and it's already too late.A student, Roopal Singh, said, "We all are facing problems but college authorities are least concerned about our future. Due to delay in announcement of results, we couldnot seek admission in universities other than MJP Rohilkhand University." She added that one of her batchmates could not appear infew job vacancies because she did not have marksheet.Former LLB student, Praveen Singh Chauhan, said, "Every year, the results are withheld because of delay in getting practical marks from affiliated colleges. Few of my friends had to waste a complete academic year as by the time results were announced, all the prominent colleges and universitieshad closed admissions."When contacted, registrar SL Maurya said, "We have sent reminders to colleges for forwarding practical marks. We will take necessary action against them if they fail to provide marks."
