Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director and Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), has been conferred the prestigious Prof. M.S. Swaminathan Award for 2024-25 in Hyderabad today on 18th April, 2026.

The award was presented by Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Former Vice President of India, in recognition of Dr. Rao’s outstanding contributions to climate-resilient agriculture and natural resource management, key pillars for ensuring sustainable growth and food security in the era of climate change.

Through his pioneering research, policy leadership, and farmer-centric innovations, Dr. Rao has played a vital role in empowering farming communities across the country to adapt, thrive, and sustain productivity under changing climatic conditions.

This recognition highlights the critical role of science and innovation in shaping a food-secure and sustainable India.

During the webinar on Reforms in Governance @ ICAR under Mission Karmayogi – Sadhana Saptah, Dr. M. L. Jat, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR highlighted how governance reforms are transforming ICAR into a more efficient, transparent, technology-driven and farmer-centric organization.

He emphasized that Mission Karmayogi is shifting governance from process to performance, focusing on capacity building, digital governance, and real impact on farmers and the agricultural sector, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

भारतविस्तार से डिजिटल कृषि के नए युग की शुरुआत: डॉ. एम. एल. जाट

AI और किसानों की परंपरागत समझ के समन्वय से खेती बनेगी अधिक वैज्ञानिक, सटीक और लाभकारी

भारतविस्तार के शुभारंभ अवसर पर अपने संबोधन में डॉ. एम. एल. जाट, सचिव (डेयर) एवं महानिदेशक(आईसीएआर) ने कहा कि भारत के किसान केवल अन्नदाता ही नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्र की समृद्धि और आत्मनिर्भरता के मजबूत आधार स्तंभ हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि राजस्थान की पावन धरती से डिजिटल कृषि के एक नए युग की शुरुआत हो रही है, जहाँ कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता (AI) किसानों की परंपरागत बुद्धि और अनुभव के साथ मिलकर खेती को अधिक वैज्ञानिक, सटीक और लाभकारी बनाएगी।

डॉ. जाट ने बताया कि भारतविस्तार के माध्यम से अब देश के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों की मिट्टी, जलवायु, जल उपलब्धता, बीज की उपयुक्तता, फसल रोग-नियंत्रण, मौसम और बाजार से जुड़ी समेकित जानकारी तकनीक के जरिए सीधे किसानों तक पहुँचेगी। यह पहल केवल उत्पादन बढ़ाने तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि किसानों की आय, सुरक्षा और सम्मान सुनिश्चित करने की दिशा में एक निर्णायक कदम है।

उन्होंने कहा कि भारत सरकार और राज्य सरकारों के सहयोग से करोड़ों किसानों को जोड़ने वाला यह प्रयास कृषि क्षेत्र में व्यापक परिवर्तन की नींव रखेगा, जिससे किसान अपनी भूमि और स्थानीय परिस्थितियों के अनुरूप सही और समयबद्ध निर्णय ले सकेंगे। उन्होंने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि राजस्थान से शुरू हुई यह पहल पूरे देश को नई दिशा देगी और भारत को वैश्विक स्तर पर डिजिटल कृषि में अग्रणी बनाएगी।
