# -Day Lecture Programme on “Strengthening Accreditation through Intellectual Property Management: The Role of IPR Cell in Higher Education” # #

The IPR Cell and IQAC, Nirmal Haloi College, organized a -Day Lecture Programme on “Strengthening Accreditation through Intellectual Property Management: The Role of IPR Cell in Higher Education” on 5th May 2026.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Kaushik Kr Deka, Principal, Nirmal Haloi College, who highlighted the significance of Intellectual Property Rights in academic and research pursuits and its relevance to institutional accreditation.

The invited lecture was delivered by Dr. Manas Das, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Gauhati University. In his deliberation, he elaborated on the role of IPR Cells in higher education institutions and emphasized the need to create awareness of IPR among faculty members and students, promote research and innovation, ensure protection of academic work through appropriate IP strategies, and integrate IP management practices with quality enhancement and accreditation frameworks.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members of neighbouring institutions, including Tihu College, North Kamrup College, and Bajali T. T. College.

Nirmal Haloi College family bid a heartfelt farewell to our respected Vice Principal, Kishore Kumar Sarma, Office Assistant Anil Roy, and Grade IV employee Prabhat Chandra Roy on the occasion of their retirement.

On 30th April, 2026, a warm farewell programme was organized at college by the teaching and non-teaching staff to honour their long years of dedicated service. The event was graced by esteemed members of the college fraternity as well the ex faculty members where speakers reflected on their invaluable contributions, guidance, and unwavering commitment to the institution.

Nirmal Haloi College will always remain deeply grateful to them for their sincere service and lasting impact.

‘ Development Conclave 4.0’

Entrepreneurship Development Conclave 4.0 and Bohagi Festival Celebration” was successfully organized on Saturday at Nirmal Haloi College in Bajali district under the initiative of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Students’ Union. Notably, this year marked the fourth edition of the Entrepreneurship Development Conclave at the college. The programme began with the hoisting of the college flag by Principal Dr. Kaushik Kumar Deka, who delivered an inspiring speech urging students to take a pledge to contribute towards nation and state building through entrepreneurship. Vice Principal Dr. Jiten Kumar Bhagawati also addressed the gathering after hoisting the NSS flag.

The main event was inaugurated by recently retired Vice Principal Kishore Kumar Sharma. In his inaugural speech, he described the programme as a beacon of hope for the future of the college and extended his best wishes to the participating students. Thereafter, the President of the Students’ Union, Hirak Jyoti Rajbongshi, ceremonially lit a lamp before the portrait of Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg.

A total of 19 stalls were set up at the entrepreneurship fair, where students of the college displayed and sold more than 120 homemade food items, handicrafts, decorative products, ornaments, home décor items, and homegrown vegetables. The Principal, Vice Principal, faculty members, and local residents of Patacharkuchi visited the stalls and purchased various items, encouraging the students in their entrepreneurial efforts.

The felicitation session on entrepreneurship development began with a welcome address by Principal Dr. Kaushik Kumar Deka, who motivated students by citing examples of world-renowned entrepreneurs. During the felicitation programme, distinguished entrepreneurs and alumni of the college, including Montu Deka, Hitesh Roy, and Utsav Roy, along with entrepreneur Bhaskar Kalita from Pathsala, were specially honoured. Eminent entrepreneurs as well as noted journalists Biraj Kalita of Dainik Asam and Rana Deka of NK TV shared their experiences and highly appreciated the initiative taken by the college fraternity.

On this occasion, the college newsletter was also formally released. President of the Patacharkuchi Press Club, Nabakanta Kalita, unveiled the newsletter and delivered a brief speech. The programme was compered by Dr. Nabanita Kalita, Head of the Assamese Department. To encourage a competitive spirit among students, the best three stalls were selected out of the 19 stalls and awarded prizes. The judging panel comprised former Vice Principal Kishore Kumar Sharma and Dr. Binima Patgiri, Head of the Sanskrit Department.

At the concluding session, certificates and financial assistance were distributed among the participating students. Following the entrepreneurship conclave, the students of the college celebrated the Bohagi Festival with great enthusiasm and festivity. Programme on "Planet vs Plastics

The Green Campus Cell of Nirmal Haloi College, Patacharkuchi, successfully conducted an awareness programme focused on "Planet vs Plastics" to commemorate Earth Day 2026. The event commenced with an opening address by Suman Barman, Coordinator of the Green Campus Cell, who emphasized the importance of campus sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Vice Principal Kishore Kumar Sarma as a resource person delivered the keynote address, providing a comprehensive overview of the "3R" framework—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. His lecture offered practical strategies for mitigating plastic waste within the institutional community. The programme concluded with closing remarks from the Principal Dr. Kaushik kumar Deka, reinforcing the college's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship.

Following the successful conclusion of the awareness programme, students participated in a tree plantation drive. This hands-on initiative served as a practical extension of the programme’s objectives, fostering environmental stewardship and a commitment to sustainability within the community.
