Sola from Government Engineering College Bhavnagar, participated in ROBOFEST Gujarat 5.0 with their project AVYANA – Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), under the guidance of Prof. Pratik Gohel.

Their innovation was recognized with ₹50,000 at the ideation stage and ₹2,00,000 at the Proof-of-Concept stage. 🚀

3D Printing Workshop – Future of Manufacturing

A seminar titled “3D Printing Workshop – Future of Manufacturing” was organized in Bhavnagar on 20/02/2026 through the joint efforts of CED (Centre for Entrepreneurship Development), NSIC Rajkot, and other organizations. The event aimed to provide practical knowledge and awareness about 3D printing technology and its applications.

During the seminar, experts explained the importance of 3D printing, its working principles, and its growing role in various industries. They highlighted how this technology is transforming product design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes. Participants were also introduced to modern software tools and real-world applications of 3D printing.

Students actively participated in the session and gained valuable insights through interactive discussions and demonstrations. The seminar emphasized how 3D printing can enhance innovation, reduce production time, and open new opportunities for entrepreneurship.

Industrial Visit at International Center of Excellence, Gandhinagar

Students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Government Engineering College Bhavnagar, participated in a one-day industrial visit to the International Center of Excellence for Automobile (iACE), Gandhinagar, on 17/04/2026. A total of 50 students actively participated, along with faculty members Dr. N. N. Jadeja, Dr. N. D. Mehta, Prof. D. B. Patel, and Prof. A. C. Gohil.

IACE is a premier institute dedicated to advanced training and skill development in the automobile sector. It is equipped with modern laboratories and industry-oriented programs that bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world practices.

The visit provided valuable insights into automotive systems, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies. It was an enriching and memorable experience that enhanced our technical knowledge and practical understanding.

Industrial visit at Bosch Rexroth (India) Pvt. Ltd., Sanand

Students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Government Engineering College Bhavnagar, participated in a one-day industrial visit to Bosch Rexroth (India) Pvt. Ltd., Sanand on 10/04/2026, where 35 students actively participated along with faculty coordinators Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay H. Zala, Prof. (Dr.) Hirendrakumar G. Vyas, Prof. (Dr.) Nisha N. Jadeja, and Prof. (Dr.) Hardik G. Chothani.

Bosch Rexroth, a subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH (Germany), is a global leader in drive and control technologies, operating in more than 80 countries and providing innovative solutions in industrial automation. The Sanand plant is a state-of-the-art facility focusing on industrial hydraulics, linear motion and assembly technology, electric drives and control systems, as well as smart factory and Industry 4.0 solutions.

The visit began with an introductory session where students were briefed about the company’s operations and safety guidelines. During the plant tour, students observed advanced manufacturing processes, automated assembly lines, smart tools, digital monitoring systems, and automation technologies such as AGVs and cobots. They also visited quality control laboratories equipped with advanced instruments.

The visit provided valuable exposure to modern manufacturing practices, hydraulic and automation systems, and Industry 4.0 technologies. It was an enriching experience that enhanced students’ technical knowledge, practical understanding, and interaction with industry professionals.

📰 Workshop Successfully Organized by Mechanical Engineering Department, GEC Bhavnagar
The Mechanical Engineering Department, Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar successfully organized a 2-Day Workshop (Hybrid Mode) on “Introduction to SIMULIA Abaqus with Basic Modeling in 3DEXPERIENCE” on 12–13 March 2026.

A total of 30 students from Semester 4 and 6 and 12 faculty members actively participated in the workshop.

The sessions were delivered by Mr. Shantanu Namdeo, Application Engineer from Advanced Reality Solutions, Pune, providing valuable insights into Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation tools.

The workshop was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) M. G. Bhatt (Principal) and Prof. (Dr.) J. B. Valaki (Convener), along with coordinators and committee members of the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The workshop provided practical exposure to modern engineering simulation tools and concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation.

Robotics Workshop at IIT Gandhinagar

Students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Government Engineering College Bhavnagar, participated in a one-day Robotics Workshop at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar on 27 February 2026. A total of 32 students actively participated in this enriching academic experience under the guidance of Dr. N. D. Mehta, Dr. A. Y. Pathak, and Prof. D. B. Morabiya. Students received hands-on training in modern robotics technologies, kinematics, automation, and programming. Experts from IIT Gandhinagar also shared insights about recent developments, research opportunities, and industrial applications in the field of robotics. This academic visit helped students strengthen their practical knowledge, technological curiosity, and research orientation, providing exposure beyond classroom learning.

The participation and efforts of the students and faculty were appreciated by Dr. J. B. Valaki (Head of Mech. Engg. Dept.) and Dr. M. G. Bhatt (Principal), encouraging more such academic and industry-oriented activities in the future.

The online session “Learnings and Road Ahead for Tech Education” based on the India AI Impact Summit 2026 was organized by the Commissionerate of Technical Education, Gandhinagar on 09 March 2026 to share insights on the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence on technical education and future skill development. The session highlighted how AI is transforming multiple sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, finance, and governance, making it essential for engineering institutions to integrate AI-related knowledge into their academic frameworks. Key learnings emphasized the importance of AI literacy, responsible and ethical AI development, industry–academia collaboration, and innovation-driven education. Expert speakers discussed the need to revise existing curricula to include subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science, establish AI laboratories, and encourage interdisciplinary learning and research. The session also stressed promoting faculty development programs, student innovation, and startup culture to ensure graduates are prepared for an AI-driven economy. Overall, the event provided valuable guidance for technical institutions to modernize education, strengthen collaboration with industry, and equip students with future-ready technological skills aligned with India’s vision of becoming a global leader in AI innovation. Total 74 faculty members and 1360 students of the GEC, Bhavnagar have attended the program.

During the visit, the students learned about CNC Machining Trade, Diesel Mechanic Trade, Automobile Excellence Center, and Refrigeration Trade at ITI Bhavnagar.
