In a landmark development for higher education in Lower Assam, the Government of Assam has officially recognized the prestigious Birjhora Mahavidyalaya (Degree Science College) as a Constituent College of Bongaigaon University. To mark this historic transition, a press conference was held today at 1:00 PM in the college auditorium. The event featured Prof. T.K. Deka, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Bongaigaon University, as the guest of honour. During an engaging interaction with the media, Prof. Deka shared his inspiring vision for the future of higher education in the Bongaigaon district and surrounding regions. He emphasized that this integration would elevate academic standards and provide students with enhanced opportunities for research and specialized learning. The conference was chaired by Dr. Chinmoy Bhattacharjee, Principal of Birjhora Mahavidyalaya, who reflected on the college’s dedicated journey toward achieving this prestigious status. He expressed his gratitude to the faculty, students, and the state government for their unwavering support in reaching this milestone. Adding to the historical context, Sri T.K. Choudhury, President of the Governing Body (BM), delivered a moving speech detailing the history of the college’s inception and its steady development to reach its current esteemed position. Other notable dignitaries in attendance included: The Director, IQAC, Bongaigaon University, Dr. Banojit Kr. Sarma, Dean, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Bongaigaon University and Dr. Pradeep Kr. Goswami, Retd. Prof., Bongaigaon University. The transition of Birjhora Mahavidyalaya into a constituent college is expected to act as a catalyst for academic excellence, further solidifying Bongaigaon’s position as a rising hub for higher education in Assam.
