Jubrec, a JA Student Company, formed by students of the 'University of the Fraser Valley', Chandigarh campus, deals in the manufacture and sale of jute based products targeting students and executives in India and abroad. The company is owned by the shareholders,which comprises of students and staff of UFV and SD College, Chandigarh . The company commenced its operations on May 5, 2014. The compan
y will provide four variants of jute-based file, folders, and bags, mainly targeting school/college students, business and government executives. The company believes that the people are becoming more conscious towards “green products.” The future of plastic and leather files/ folders is bleak and the eco-friendly files/ folders will substitute these products in near future. India is a leading producer of jute, and jute based products are now becoming a trend amongst the people in India. The company found a business opportunity to make jute based files/folders and bags, which has potential to replace plastic based products in future. Jubrec will be a trendsetter in this market. The company raised Rs. 29,500 to meet its start-up cost through equity capital and borrowings. Equity Capital of Rs. 17,000 was raised by issuing 1,700 shares @ Rs.10 each. The remaining amount of Rs. 12,500 was raised through borrowings. The company plans to earn the “net profit after tax” of Rs. 41,800 and earnings per share of Rs. 24.5 after 3 months of operation. The purpose of Junior Achievement Company Program is to provide students as near real life experience as possible while staying within academic and age group limits. In this program, participating students learn important entrepreneurial skills while they create their own student company and operate it through an entire business cycle (From business plans through organization setup and operations to liquidation). The companies are overseen by a Student ‘Board of Directors’, have articulated ‘incorporation’ documents and maintain their books of accounts. They make and market real products, raise “capital” and make “real” profits (or losses) with the support and mentoring of a wide range of professionals.
