Panjab University, Chandigarh Established in 1882, Leading University of India. Accredited A++ Grade by NAAC. Official page PU is one of the oldest Universities in India.

PU was Established in 1882 at Lahore (now in Pakistan). PU campus is spread over an area of 550 acres (2.2 km2) in sectors 14 and 25 of the city of Chandigarh. PU has 75 teaching and research departments and 15 Centers/Chairs for teaching and research at the main campus located at Chandigarh. PU has 188 affiliated colleges spread over Punjab and having one rural Regional Centre at Kauni, and 3 Reg

ional Centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur. The University also has 4 Constituent Colleges located at Sikhwala (Sri Muktsar Sahib), Balachaur (SBS Nagar), Nihalsingh Wala (Moga) and Guru Harsahai (Ferozepur).

The CSDE, Panjab University has launched this peer-led initiative for digital safety under the ACU Gender Grant 2025. Following an inauguration by Prof. Pam Rajput, 31 core members have been inducted to lead cyber awareness efforts across the campus. Founding student officers Diksha Makkar, Kashish Rana, and Hritika Kapoor will begin sponsored CCIO training on 8 April 2026, kicking off an 8-week roadmap designed to foster a sustainable ecosystem for women’s digital empowerment.

Panjab University hosts the 6th K.C. Shenmar Memorial Lecture at the Law Auditorium, Chandigarh, organised by the Panjab University Alumni Association (PUAA) in collaboration with the Department of Economics.

Smt. Preeti Sudan, Former Chairman, UPSC, Government of India, delivered the keynote address on “My Professional Experience in Policy Making for Social Equity: A Personal Account.”

Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, addressed the gathering and emphasised the University’s commitment to socially relevant academic discourse.

Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, Government of India, also shared his perspectives on development planning and inclusive growth.

Eligibility for Registered Graduate Constituency:
Graduates of Panjab University who have passed:
• Bachelor’s degree in or before 2021; or
• Postgraduate degree in or before December, 2025

PU shines at the AAFS Global Meet.

Dr J. S. Sehrawat, Chairperson, Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences in New Orleans, USA.

The honour recognises his contribution to forensic anthropology, including research on identification of unknown human remains using ancient DNA and stable isotope analysis.

Panjab University, Chandigarh and University of the Fraser Valley, Canada have signed an MoU to launch a BBA dual degree programme at UIAMS.

Eligible PU students will get direct entry into the third year at UFV. On completing the course requirements, students will receive degrees from both universities.
