In observance of World No To***co Day 2026, observed annually on May 31st, the Department of Psychiatry, CHRI, conducted a workshop on “Approach to Ni****ne Deaddiction” under the theme “The New Face of Ni****ne Addiction” on 20/05/26. The workshop focused on va**ng, e-cigarettes, ni****ne dependence, screening, and management strategies for to***co cessation. It also emphasized early identification of ni****ne addiction, counselling approaches, and evidence-based treatment methods to promote to***co-free living. Postgraduates, interns, and nursing students actively participated in the program.

The Department of Pathology, CHRI successfully organized a guest lecture titled “Potpourri in Cytology: Slide Seminar for Postgraduate Learning” on May 12, 2026. The session was conducted by the esteemed guest speaker Dr. K. Swaminathan, MD, Director & Head, Institute of Pathology, Madras Medical College, Chennai.

The seminar provided an enriching academic platform for postgraduate students, focusing on interesting and challenging cytology cases with interactive slide discussions. The event encouraged active participation, critical thinking, and practical learning in diagnostic cytopathology. INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY-2026

Chettinad College of Nursing, in association with the Nursing Department of Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, organized a grand celebration of International Nurses Day 2026 on 15th May 2026 at the Mini Auditorium, College Block, under the theme “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”

The programme commenced with a welcome dance, followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Subbulakshmi S, Principal, Chettinad College of Nursing. The dignitaries inaugurated the celebration by lighting the kuthuvilakku. Dr. A. Kalaiselvi Xavier, Professor, unfolded the theme of International Nurses Day and highlighted the vital role of nurses in strengthening healthcare services.

The celebration was graced by Dr. Meenakshi N, Dean, CHRI, and Dr. A. Prabhakar, Deputy Medical Superintendent, CHRI, who delivered special addresses appreciating the dedicated service of nurses. The Nightingale Pledge was administered by Dr. P. Tamilselvi, Professor, reaffirming the commitment of nurses towards compassionate patient care.

The Chief Guest distributed awards to the best student nurses and faculty members. Various competitions, cultural programmes, mime performances, and games were conducted for students, faculty members, and staff nurses. The event created enthusiasm, unity, and professional pride among the participants.
The programme concluded successfully with prize distribution, a group photo session, and a vote of thanks.

On 08 May 2026, the Chettinad School of Physiotherapy organized a Pre-Conference Workshop on “Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Decision-Making for Physiotherapy Practice” at Demo Hall – 10 from 08:30 AM to 03:30 PM under the guidance of Dr. K. C. Gayathri. The workshop was conducted by Dr. K. Pradeepa and attended by 30 physiotherapy students.

The session focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence in physiotherapy practice, emphasizing its role in clinical decision-making, patient assessment, rehabilitation planning, and evidence-based practice. The resource person elaborated on various AI-based technologies and digital health tools that support diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, patient monitoring, and outcome prediction.

Interactive discussions, demonstrations, and case-based learning enhanced participants’ understanding of the applications, benefits, challenges, and future scope of AI in physiotherapy. The workshop was effectively coordinated by Dr. T. Akshaya and served as an informative academic platform for students and faculty members.

As part of CHETPHYSIOCON – 2026, the Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE, organized a Pre-Conference Workshop on “Clinical Reasoning in Cervical and Thoracic Manipulation” on 08 May 2026 from 08:30 AM to 03:30 PM at Demo Hall – 13 under the chairmanship of Dr. K. C. Gayathri.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. K. M. Siddharth and attended by 30 participants. The session emphasized clinical reasoning, evidence-based manual therapy, safety considerations, differential diagnosis, and practical decision-making in cervical and thoracic manipulation.

Interactive lectures, demonstrations, hands-on training, and case discussions enhanced participants’ clinical and practical skills in musculoskeletal rehabilitation. The workshop was effectively coordinated by Ms. Nithya Devi R.

As a part of CHETPHYSIOCON 2026 CME Programme, the Sports Events held from 6th–8th May 2026 at Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE, showcased enthusiasm, teamwork, and true sportsmanship.

The event commenced on 6th May with Cricket for boys, Throwball for girls, and Chess, inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr. R. Sridhar. On 7th May, students actively participated in Futsal, Tug of War, Carrom Singles & Doubles, and the Cricket Finals.

The final day featured Athletics events including track races, Shot Put, and Discus Throw for boys and girls. Enthusiastic participation from Sri Venkateswaraa College of Physiotherapy and Vels School of Physiotherapy added greater spirit and competitiveness to the event.

The Chettinad School of Physiotherapy organized an outreach program on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day on April 1, 2026, at Paradise Home, ECR, Muttukadu, Kovalam Post. A total of 16 final-year Physiotherapy students participated under the guidance of Dr. T. Akshaya, PT, Assistant Professor.

The program focused on creating awareness about tuberculosis, including its causes, signs and symptoms, prevention, and treatment. Physiotherapy cardiopulmonary assessment was done and exercises were taught and demonstrated.

Health education was delivered interactively to ensure better understanding. The program was successfully conducted with active participation and cooperation from the individuals and staff of Paradise Home.
