Gurunanak college of arts and science Welcome to Guru Nanak College The College is being run as a minority community college within the meaning of articles 29 and 30 of the Indian Constitution.

The Guru Nanak College was established in the year 1971 as a Unit of Guru Nanak Educational Society to mark the 500th birthday of the great Shri Guru Nanak Devji, founder of the Sikh Religion. The objective of the college is to spread the ideals of universal brotherhood, oneness of God, communal harmony and welfare to all communities. The college provides a quiet and ideal setting amidst natural s

urroundings. It is located on the Velachery-Tambaram Road within a verdant 22 acre campus gifted by the Government of Tamil Nadu for the development of an Arts & Science College. The institution admits students as per the government norms. 30% of the total strength in each course is reserved for women students. Admission is open to trans-genders also. The College is now ranked among the top ten colleges in Chennai.

Admission Procedure
Shift -I

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Applicants for the degree course should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (XII Std.,) under the 10 plus 2 pattern prevalent in Tamil Nadu or its equivalent from other Universities or Boards.

Candidates, who pass the All India Senior School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, will be eligible for admission, provided they pass the examination with a minimum of five subjects of which English shall be compulsory. An applicant should provide an eligibility certificate, from the University of Madras at the time of interview.

Applicants for the M.Com Degree should have passed B.Com., B.B.M., B.A.(Cooperation), BA(Business Economics), B.A (Industrial Organisation ) or B.Sc. (Maths) with Accountancy and Costing or Banking as allied papers scoring 50% and above in courses other than B.Com.

Applicants for the M.A (Eco) should have passed B.A. (Eco) or B.Sc. (Maths) or B.Sc. (Statistics) or B.Com degree examination.

Applicants for the M.Sc (Chem) should have passed B.Sc. degree with chemistry as the main subject from the University Of Madras or its equivalent from other Universities with Mathematics as one of the allied subjects.

English is the medium of instruction for all the courses of study. Only Hindi and Tamil are offered under First Language. All courses are under the semester pattern prescribed by the University of Madras.

HOW TO APPLY

Students who wish to obtain admission should apply in the prescribed form, which can be obtained from the college office against payment of Rs. 50/- for each U.G. Course and Rs. 60/- for each PG. Course. Application forms may also be downloaded from the website.

Completed applications will marks duly entered and attested should be handed over in person to the college office and a registration receipt could be obtained.

Students residing outside the city may send the completed application by post duly affixing Rs. 6/- postage stamp on each card attached to the application for sending the registration receipt.

The last date for receipt of application from the U G Courses is the 10th day after the publication of the Higher Secondary School examination results of Government of Tamil Nadu and for the PG. Course the 10th day after the publication of B.A/B.Sc./B.Com results of the University of Madras.

ADMISSION

An Applicant provisionally selected for admission will be called for an interview with the Principal. The parent or guardian should be present at the time of interview. A call for the interview does not necessarily ensure admission. At the time of interview the candidate should produce all the relevant certificates in original as mentioned in the interview card.

Selected students are advised to keep with them sufficient number of true copies of their original certificates. The original certificates will not be returned to them before the completion of their course of study.

Foreign students should provide a regular, long term student visa issued by respective Indian Embassy.

All admissions provisional and are subject to the approval of the University of Madras. Every Selected student should follow the code of conduct, prescribed by the college and the Government.

Shift- II

Applicants for MBA should posses any UG Degree from a recognized University. Applicants seeking admission must have valid MAT Score, coducted by All India Management Association or must have apperaed for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University or equivalent.

Applicants for MCA should posses Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with Business Mathematics and Statistics or Mathematics / Statistics in Main / Allied Level (OR) A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Higher Secondary Level.
