For Ms. R. K. Dhanasri of II BSc IT, NSS was always more than camps and uniforms. It became an experience built on discipline, resilience and self-belief. Hoping to secure a place in the Republic Day Parade contingent, she began months of rigorous preparation involving parade practice, running and folk dance, balancing training even during examinations. From practising 22 rounds around the college ground to rehearsing Poi Kaal Kudhirai, every effort reflected her determination to give her best.

Her journey took her from college-level selection to representing the institution at the NSS South Zone Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp in Kerala, where endurance, discipline, and confidence were tested every day. What began as competition soon turned into camaraderie, as volunteers from different states bonded through shared experiences and hard work.

Selected for the State Republic Day Parade 2026, she marched at Marina Road, Chennai, in the presence of the Hon’ble Governor, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. For her the moment of saluting the nation brought back every struggle and sacrifice of the journey, a moment she describes with immense pride and emotion. She expresses heartfelt gratitude to her seniors, NSS wing, teachers and especially her parents whose encouragement kept her going throughout the journey.

Her message to readers is powerful: “Do not let the fear of results hold you back. Give your fullest effort and stay consistent because sometimes the real victory lies not in the outcome, but in discovering how far your determination can take you.”

“Sometimes, life doesn’t ask if you’re ready, it reveals how prepared you’ve always been.”

Akshaya Lakshmi T of II BCom proved the latter. What began as a simple form for the District Level Youth Parliament soon became something more. Her unique perspective on the topic of National Emergency placed her among the top 5 speakers, taking her all the way to the State Level Youth Parliament in Chennai, where she stood on stage among 170+ speakers, with Coimbatore's name on her shoulders.

But the defining moment came as a call from the District Youth Officer on April 10. Within hours, she was on her way to Telangana, to the National Level Mock Women’s Parliament. Selected as The Minister of Rural Development, she spoke on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam bill, focusing on rural women. The session was recorded and sent to the Honourable Prime Minister and she stood as the only speaker from Coimbatore, receiving recognition from the Governor of Telangana and the State Directors of My Bharat.

She expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Department of Commerce, Mentors, NSS and My Bharat officers, family and friends, whose constant support shaped every step of this path. Rooted in a dream she has carried since childhood, to serve as a civil servant, Akshaya continues to move forward with purpose.

And to everyone reading this, she leaves something worth holding onto: “Opportunities don't always come looking the way you imagined. Sometimes it's just a call on a Friday night, a decision by morning, and the courage to show up for something bigger than yourself."

P. Sri Sruthi, a student of II BA English at KCW, proudly represented the institution at the NSS Republic Day Parade Camp 2026 in New Delhi, a prestigious national platform of discipline and excellence.

Inspired by her father and her journey in NSS, she worked consistently towards this goal, training every afternoon from her second year. The selection process was highly competitive, progressing from college level to university screening and the Pre-Republic Day Camp in Kerala, where each stage tested her determination.

She actively contributed through Bharatanatyam and Kavadi (folk dance) and was recognised as “Best Volunteer of the Day” at the Pre-RDC camp.

The final phase in Delhi brought rigorous routines of drills and rehearsals. During the Full Dress Rehearsal on January 23, despite hours of heavy rainfall, the contingent completed the parade, a true display of resilience.

She also participated in cultural performances at Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Prime Minister’s Rally at NCC Cariappa Ground. Standing on Kartavya Path on Republic Day, witnessing the grandeur and saluting the nation became an unforgettable moment.

As she reflects: “Though we came from different states and backgrounds, we all stood as one. Fighting for one dream made us one team.”

For Sruthi, this journey was one of growth, unity, and a deep sense of patriotism that will stay with her for life.

From an unexpected opportunity to a meaningful achievement, R K Tanusya Khumari of II Physics made her mark at the Nilgiris Impact Challenge 2026 (NIC), organized by Nilgiris CII in partnership with Kumaraguru Institutions under the aegis of the Nilgiris Economic Dialogue (NED). Stepping in just a week before the event, what began as a last-minute chance soon turned into a defining experience.

At the Nilgiris, participants were divided into 24 interdisciplinary teams. Placed in a new group, Tanusya worked on the problem of “Market Linkages for Tribal Products in the Nilgiris District,” focusing on the Kurumba tribes. Moving beyond her field of Physics, she explored the challenges faced by tribal communities in marketing their traditional art forms.

Through continuous late-night sessions and a week of focused effort, her team developed “Blue Hill,” a solution aimed at improving visibility and market access for tribal products. Competing among 24 teams comprising 120+students, their idea and ex*****on stood out, securing them the First place in the competition.

She credits her mentor Dr M Lavanya, the Department of Physics, and KCW for their support throughout the journey. Reflecting on her experience, Tanusya shares, “Stepping into something beyond my field helped me learn, adapt, and see real-world problems differently.”

Behind every academic milestone lies a story of perseverance, curiosity, and quiet determination.

In a proud moment for PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, five of our scholars have secured the prestigious UGC NET – Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)—a highly competitive achievement pursued by thousands across the country and a significant gateway to advanced research.

Each journey reflects resilience in its own way. Aiswaria Samyuktha turned years of focused preparation into success, securing an impressive 99.2 percentile and advancing today into the Senior Research Fellowship stage of her doctoral work in English. Keerthana, with remarkable clarity of purpose, earned the fellowship in her very first attempt with 98.95 percentile. Jesoma, driven by patience and scholarly curiosity, achieved an outstanding 99.6 percentile, strengthening her path in historical research.

Raghave’s journey is one of unwavering perseverance—after narrowly missing the fellowship earlier, she returned with renewed determination to secure an exceptional 99.96 percentile in English in her third attempt and now working on Health Humanities. Deepthi, too, exemplified persistence, clearing the examination in her second attempt and successfully claiming the JRF in English and now working on Fiction.

Today, all five scholars continue their doctoral research at KCW, contributing to and enriching its vibrant research culture. Their stories reflect the spirit of KCW—where resilience meets purpose, and dedication leads to excellence.
