🌍💧 H2O Movement – Walk for Water, Walk for Life and Swab for Life 💧🌍
On 16th October 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering at Graphic Era Deemed to be University, in collaboration with Graphic Era Hill University, proudly hosted the H2O Movement – an event uniting global leaders, activists, and students to raise awareness about the global water crisis and the urgency of water conservation, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) – Clean Water and Sanitation.
Key Highlights of the Event: • Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, inspired us to make small lifestyle changes to conserve water and embrace tree planting for a cleaner, healthier future. 🌱 • Dr. Bart S. Fisher, Chairman of the Give Life Foundation, drew parallels between stem cells and water, both vital life-saving resources. • Padma Shri Kalyan Singh Rawat, founder of the Maiti Movement, emphasized the critical situation of water sources in Uttarakhand, encouraging eco-friendly habits. • Mr. George Anjelo, CEO of Bisleri, addressed the industrial impact of the water crisis, and highlighted innovative solutions like Water Credit. • Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, from Parmarth Niketan, reminded us of the millions affected by water scarcity, advocating for a sustainable lifestyle through mindful water use and vegetarianism. • Dr. Sanjana Jon, Founder of PACT, urged the importance of ethical consumerism and promised future collaborations with Graphic Era for large-scale social movements. •Dr Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Deemed to be University, reminded us that the H2O Movement is more than just a walk—it’s about raising awareness for a critical issue. With only 4% of the world's freshwater and over 1.4 billion people, India faces severe water shortages in both rural and urban areas. Rivers are drying, groundwater is depleting, and pollution is worsening. The H2O Movement calls for reviving traditional conservation practices, promoting sustainable water use, and inspiring community-driven solutions. • Dr Sanjay Jasola, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Hill University, Welcome the Speakers, Dr. K. K. Gupta, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar successfully coordinated the event.
Together, we are committed to conserving water and saving lives! 🌊🌿
