Tarun Tejpal: 5 facts about him

Tarun Tejpal has been in the news because of the recent sexual assault charges that have been made against him by a staffer of Tehelka. Funnily enough, he was born on March 15, 1963-or like you read about in Julius Caesar, The Ides of March. Do we smell controversy theory? Well, here are a few facts about Tejpal:
1. Tejpal’s father was from the Indian Army because of which he attended various schools in the country as his father was always being transferred. Tejpal did his graduation from Panjab University in Chandigarh.
2. Tejpal is married to Geetan Batra and has a daughter- they live in New Delhi.
3. Tejpal began his journalistic career with The Indian Express in the 1980’s after which he moved onto a magazine called India 2000, which no longer exists. He then went on to work for India Today magazine, then The Financial Express after which he worked for Outlook, which he had also helped to found.
4. Tehelka.com was launched by Tejpal in March 2000. In January 2007 it became a weekly magazine. Tehelka came to be known due to its sting operations, especially for Operation West End.
5. Tejpal was given the Award for Excellence in Journalism by the International Press Institute's India Chapter Award and was listed by The Guardian as ‘India’s Elite’ and also for being a ‘Pioneer of a brand of sting journalism which has transformed Indian media’ back in 2006.

1.36 lakh new job added in Q2: Survey...

Despite the economic slump, companies continued to hire as new jobs creation grew at a healthy 9% in the second quarter of the fiscal with top five metros accounting for 61%, says a survey.

"Job creation during the second quarter of the current fiscal has grown 9% or over 1.36 lakh jobs, over the previous quarter, and as many as 61% of new jobs were created in the top five metros," industry lobby Assocham said in a report. The Q1 of the fiscal saw over 1.25 lakh new jobs.
The cities that created the maximum number of jobs were Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata and Mumbai
