Written Round on January 23, 2013 at 01:00 PM (Wednesday)

Interactive Round will be on February 02, 2013 at 09:00 AM(Saturday)

Exposition Round will be held on February 16, 2013 at 09:00 AM(Saturday)

Problem and Concept Rounds will be held on March 02, 2013 at 09:00 AM(Saturday)

We invite a team of four participants from each college representing Life Sciences, Chemistry and Physics. The preliminary written round will be held at two venues: Miranda House and Sri Venkateswara College on 23 January 2013 from 1:00 PM onwards. Teams may reach either of the two venues with the Registration forms duly signed by the Principal and the three questions in Chemistry, Physics and Life Science (along with answers).

Science Facts of the Day...

1. A neutron star is the strongest magnet in the universe.

2. About 1000 Earths would fit inside Jupiter - and the Sun could hold about 1000 Jupiters.

3. Avocados have the highest fiber and calories of any fruit.

4. Minus 40 degrees Celsius is exactly the same temperature as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

1. Fleas can jump 130 times higher than their own height. In human terms, that's a 6ft tall person jumping 780 ft in the air.

2. Jupiter's core is non-metal, but due to the immense pressure inside Jupiter, the core has become a metal. This metal is liquid metallic hydrogen.

3. Hummingbirds can't walk.

4. There are more than 1000 chemicals in every cup of coffee.

5. 95% of all animals are invertebrates (without a backbone or spinal column).

6. The fastest speed a falling raindrop can hit you is 18mph.

7. The largest known star Canis Majoris is so big that if our Sun were a ball 117 centimeters in diameter, Canis Majoris would be 2.25 kilometers.

8. Starfish don't have brains.

9. The burning sensation we get from chilli peppers is because of a chemical called Capsaicin.

1. Air becomes liquid at about minus 190 degrees Celsius.

2. If you slowly pour a handful of salt into a totally full glass of water it will not overflow. In fact, the water level will go down.

3. Olympus Mons on Mars is the largest volcano in our solar system, almost three times taller than Mount Everest on Earth.

4. Lionesses are better hunters than males and do most of the hunting for a pride.

5. Sunlight can pe*****te clean ocean water to a depth of 73 meters (240ft.)

6. Water expands by about 10% as it freezes.

7. Sharks have outstanding hearing. They can hear a fish thrashing in the water from as far as 500 metres away !
