Celebrating National Periodontist Day at Government Dental College, Dibrugarh was a truly memorable occasion, marked by enthusiasm, creativity, and academic pride. The event was conducted under the inspiring guidance of Dr. Liza Pathak, Head of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology, whose dedication continues to shape future dental professionals.
We were deeply honoured by the gracious presence of our respected Principal, Dr. Chandana Kalita, and our esteemed guest, Dr. Manjula Das, Principal of Government Dental College, Silchar, whose words added immense value to the celebration.
The programme featured creative reels prepared by our talented intern batches, along with vibrant dance and soulful chorus performances by students, reflecting the spirit and unity of the college.
A special highlight of the event was the prize distribution ceremony, where six honours students were felicitated for their academic excellence. The winners of the Wall Magazine Competition were also awarded, celebrating creativity and awareness in the field of periodontology.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day a grand success, celebrating the importance of periodontology and the spirit of togetherness in our institution.

On the occasion of International Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons' Day, 13 th February , 2026, Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Government Dental College, Dibrugarh successfully organized a commemorative program highlighting the significance of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in advancing patient care, academic excellence, and clinical innovation.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Dipanjanli Saikia Sir (Head of the Department) and Dr. Chandana Kalita Ma’am (Principal) whose valuable insights and encouragement enriched the celebration.
A series of engaging and creative activities were conducted as part of the observance, including a Skit Play, Reel Competition, Music Video presentation showcasing the talents, awareness, and enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members alike.

The Department of Prosthodontics, Government Dental College, Dibrugarh celebrated Prosthodontist Day on 22nd January 2026 with a cake-cutting ceremony, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of prosthodontists in restoring oral health, function, and aesthetics.

Under the inspiring headship of Dr. Kadambari Bharali, Reader and Head/In-Charge, the department has made significant progress in strengthening clinical services and academic activities. Several advanced treatment modalities are routinely provided in the department, including Fixed Partial Dentures, Removable Complete and Partial Dentures, Overdentures, Obturators, Post and Core restorations, Relining, Rebasing, and other specialized prosthodontic procedures.

The “Run for Swadeshi” – Swadeshi Sankalp Run, organized on the occasion of National Youth Day, was conducted successfully under the guidance of Dr. Chandana Kalita Ma'am, Principal GDCD. A total of more than 130 students from all batches participated actively and completed the marathon with great enthusiasm, reflecting discipline, unity, and the true spirit of youth.
The event emphasized the importance of physical fitness, determination, and commitment towards the ideals of Swadeshi. Dr. Pradeep Sharma Sir, Reader of Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, participated in the the marathon run along with the students, encouraging them in the process.

This incredible recognition was presented at the prestigious Nair Hospital Dental College, Mumbai, Maharastra, India by Cynodent Global Healthcare and Indian Society of Dentistry(ISD) on

Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Government Dental College Dibrugarh, in collaboration with ANANT MUSKAAN energetically celebrated Children’s Day on 14th November 2025. The event was graced by the presence of the esteemed faculty members of GDCD along with the participating students and children.
Various competitions like Graffiti, Drawing, Painting and Slogan writing were organised where the children have showcased their extraordinary talent.
Light refreshments were given to the children. Toothpaste and toothbrush distribution were done along with the small gifts as a token of appreciation for all the participants.
The event was concluded by a small cake cutting ceremony followed by prize distribution.

Government Dental College, Dibrugarh successfully conducted a Workshop on Distraction Osteogenesis on 31st October & 1st November 2025, organized by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery under the guidance of Dr. Dipanjal Saikia, Professor & Head, OMFS, and with the key organizational efforts of Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Reader, Dept of OMFS and Dr. Kriti Hazarika, Senior Lecturer, Dept of OMFS. Also selfless effort of other organising committee members namely Dr Nirmalendu Saha, Lecturer, Dr Sushmit Priyam Bora, Registrar, Dr Jyotish Saikia Registrar.

The event began with a heartfelt tribute to the late Shri Zubeen Garg, honouring his invaluable contribution to the art and culture of Assam. Following this, an insightful academic session was held, including a live surgery demonstration at Assam Medical College & Hospital, highlighting the clinical significance of Distraction Osteogenesis in reconstructive maxillofacial surgery — a technique pivotal in correcting craniofacial deformities and enhancing functional rehabilitation.

The workshop was graced by esteemed guests — Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, DIG CRPF, Dr. Harsh Jain, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, and Dr. Subhash Chandra Debnath, Professor & Head, Dept of OMFS, Regional Dental College, whose presence added immense value to the occasion.

Dr. Chandana Kalita, Principal(i/c), GDCD, commended the Department of OMFS for their continuous efforts in advancing surgical education and fostering excellence in dental healthcare.

The event concluded with a vibrant cultural performance by students, celebrating the rich and diverse traditions of Assam, marking a perfect blend of science, respect, and culture.
