On 4 May 2026, an eye check-up camp was organized by the NSS DU PG Unit in collaboration with the NSS Cell, Dibrugarh University, under the guidance of Dr. Jitu Borah, Programme Officer, NSS DU PG Unit. The programme was conducted in a nearby village in Dibrugarh. A team of doctors and staff members from AMCH, Dibrugarh, participated in the programme and provided valuable medical assistance and eye care services to the villagers. The camp proved to be highly beneficial for the local people.

The Department of Applied Geology, Dibrugarh University, successfully organized its first-ever Research Scholars’ Day on 6 May 2026. The event was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jiten Hazarika, who highly appreciated the Department for taking such an initiative to encourage research scholars and promote academic interaction.

As part of the programme, two invited lectures were delivered: one by Professor Debajyoti Paul from IIT Kanpur and the other by Professor J. N. Sarma, Fulbright Fellow and Retd. Professor, Department of Applied Geology, Dibrugarh University. Their insightful talks greatly inspired the participants and enriched the academic environment of the event.

The programme also featured an Oral Presentation Session and a Poster Presentation Competition for the research scholars of the department. Ms. Ankita Sarmah won the Best Poster Presenter Award, followed by Ms. Parismita Borah as the Second Best Poster Presenter, while Ms. Persona Gogoi and Ms. Ankita Gogoi jointly secured the Third Best Poster Presenter Award.

The event concluded successfully, providing an inspiring and interactive platform for the research scholars to showcase their research work, exchange knowledge, and strengthen their academic enthusiasm.

On 3 May 2026, a blood donation camp was successfully organized by the NSS DU PG Unit in collaboration with the NSS Cell, Dibrugarh University, under the guidance of Dr. Jitu Borah, Programme Officer, NSS DU PG Unit. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from volunteers, with more than 50 individuals donating blood, including Dr. Jitu Borah himself. A dedicated team of doctors and medical staff from Assam Medical College and Hospital conducted the blood donation drive smoothly and efficiently. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to all the blood donors in recognition of their valuable contribution.

On the same day, a Rescue and Fire Safety Programme was conducted at Bishnurabha Rangamancha, Dibrugarh University. The session was conducted by esteemed trainers Abhishek Paul, Sanjay Biswas and Mahiruddin Ahmed, who provided practical training and valuable guidance on rescue operations and fire safety measures to the volunteers.

The Department of History, Dibrugarh University, successfully hosted a two-day online National Seminar on “Region, Culture, and History: New Perspectives on North-East India” on 4–5 May 2026 via Google Meet.

The seminar featured five thematic sessions chaired by faculty members, covering gender and marginality, religious practices, colonial encounters, ethnography, and environmental history. The main objective of this seminar was to give a platform to young scholars and students to put forward new ideas and interact with their peers in a fruitful academic deliberation. The event highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and celebrated the contributions of younger scholars whose innovative work promises to carry forward this intellectual momentum.

Participants from leading institutions such as JNU, Visva-Bharati, Gauhati University, Cotton University, the University of Lucknow, and others presented papers that enriched discussions on the region’s diverse past and its wider connections beyond regional borders.
