Geri Koyu, a PhD candidate in the Department of History, won first place in the Creative Literary Mind competition organized under the initiative of Ms. Mamu Hage, IAS, Deputy Commissioner IAS, West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh. His submission was titled "The Last Episode in a Frontier: Peter Loren Seton James and Dipa Congress." The department is pleased to see his dedication and historical research gradually yielding meaningful results.

The Department of History at Rajiv Gandhi University successfully conducted a one-day seminar titled "Towards the Military History of Northeast India" on March 24, 2025. The seminar was inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Ret.), and Prof. S.K. Nayak, Vice-Chancellor of RGU. The seminar brought together eminent and budding scholars from Northeast India to discuss the military history of the region. It also illuminated prospects for future research on one of the most overlooked themes in historical research.

We congratulate Miss Tocha Hoshai on successfully defending her PhD thesis today. Her work on the indigenous knowledge system of the Nocte community will be a significant contribution to the history of the Nocte community, which is otherwise one of the least studied communities in Northeast India.

The Department of History congratulates Ms. Bide Mindo for successfully defending her PhD today in the seminar hall. Her PhD thesis on the historical study of the Meyor Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh will be another seminal contribution to the historical writing of Northeast India.
